Sure it's going to be in use
Or am I missing something
My assumption there is that they are using special characters. They may seem the same, but they might just be slightly different.
Can you give us links to these groups you feel have the same abbreviation?

double post.
OK, I see your confusion. Are you thinking that the xXx is their abbreviation? If you are, It's not. It's just part of the groups name, and since their names are not identical, they can have similar letter patterns within the name; like the xXx. Those three groups don't even have any abbreviations. Check out this group below, I just searched the word Rat under groups.

See how the group name is in all white, like your three examples. The group abbreviation is in gray, just next to the name. That's the part you can't copy. This groups abbreviation is R.A.P.A. Get it?
You can't copy the group name either by the way, but just like the abbreviation, you can be one letter off and you're good.
<span class="grouppage_header_abbrev" style="font-size: 22px;">xXx</span>
that is their abbreviation and all three have the same.
i dunno why you explain it with your group as an example and don't see it on those 3 groups that the xXx after their group name is grey and that this is the abbreviation
as i explained earlier, there was a time where the abbreviation and the name didn't had to be unique like today. all the mentioned groups have the same abbreviation because that was done in a time where this was possible and you simply cannot take it anymore today.
today: name, link and abbreviation have to be unique otherwise you cannot create the group
That's not my group, that group is terrible, my group is way better.
As for the abbreviation in grey I do see them now. I don't know if I had a small error before or just totally missed it, which would be sad since it was the only thing we were talking about, but I can seem them now. So yea your explanation is probably correct as I don't see anything about the X's to make them special characters.
