Warning: No refund for EA Play, even if it fails to work
Recently purchased 12 months EA play so I could play Battlefield 4. BF4 does not start, with the Steam and EA platforms in some kind of continuous loop. Steam will not refund EA Play and will not support the game as it on another platform. Do not purchases 12 months EA play on steam without testing using the monthly plan. Poor support from both steam and EA play.

EA play is a subscription and it explicitly states that the service is non refundable.

BF4 is on Steam you could have just, bought the game?
Noted. WTF? Just another reason to dismiss subscriptions.
So you bought a subscription even tho you dont need one to play BF4? Alright then, not sure why it matters because a subscription service is not something I've ever heard any one refund, you dont simply refund a membership.

$30/yr subscription to play one game that currently costs $10.....

Correct. Correct. The subscription is non-refundable and BF4 is not a Valve published game.

I don't disagree. It's always a smart plan to try out a subscription for a short period of time before committing to it long term just to make sure it's something you find value in. Sure, you may pay a more premium rate for that one month as compared to the longer term, but if you find out, as you did, that the service didn't live up to your expectations it's a far cheaper lesson to learn.

Sounds like you got exactly what you paid for. Not sure how that's a bad mark for Steam. And EA already has a poor reputation. It's not like BF4 not working for you is going to tarnish them any more than they have already been.

On the bright side, though, you still have a whole year's worth of EA Play to make use of. There are a lot more games to play than just BF4. You already paid for it. Might as well make the best of it and not let it go to waste.
Gotta draw dem big L on your 4head bro. BF4 is cheaper than 12-month EA subs rn.
This is why it's important to either contract conditions (or at least conditions of purchase widely advertised up front) or at least ask here first.

Because it makes it abundantly clear that with subscriptions once you make a payment there is NO REFUND.

If you couldn't get it to work, why aren't you posting here detailing your problem so we can ghelp you get it to work, because EA's service should work fine. But it does have some foibles.
EA play is a subscription service, hence not refundable if you have used any time.

Secondly EA play also requires the EA app. Do you have it installed?
well, now you have a year to try out the other trash that EA offers on Steam and honestly, it is not that difficult to be better than battlefield. that one was already washed out on its first iteration.
Write in ea live chat.
Last time i played bf4, it needed to start the browser.

The live chat can at least tell you how its supposed to work.
Thanks for all the comments. I had my reasons for purchasing via the subscription and appreciate it is normally not a service you can get a refund for. However, it should still work, which it does not. The point was neither EA or Steam are interested in providing support to ensure a service both are selling work and will also not refund a non working service. Purely a warning to others that consider this path.

ONe game not working on your PC doesn't mean the subscription doesn't work.
Thing is, if you are able to download EA play games without paying, that means the subscription works as intended.

If you downloaded the game but can't play, that is an issue with the game. First you need EA app, and then the game itself should be running through a web browser, where it show you your stats and let's you choose which game mode to play.

Again, if you give us details on how to fix it you're SUPOSED to ask here.

That's what support forums are for.
yehhh, no surprise there. Ty for heads up.
