Porn games age restrictions
I heard recently that Steam sells porn games, but has no restrictions on who downloads them...as in, will allow minors to download them. Sure, the game has a rating to tell the kids not to download it. But, given how easy it is even for kids under 14 (let alone 18) to sign on, it is far too easy for kids, basically children, to consume pornography.

Selling porn games is bad enough. Porn games sold to children is unacceptable. I'm not buying any more product until I'm sure that kids are protected. Nor will I recommend Steam to anyone I know (which I actually intended to do before I heard/realized this), until it's done.

Got it, Steam/Valve? This is money here!

BTW, if anyone has any more effective ideas of putting this to the top, let me know.

Age gates are a thing that indemnifies Valve.

Parent your own kids. They're not about to start asking for photos of your ID.

store pages are age-gated with correct legal manners.
rest is on the parent.

Porn games are hidden by default on the store, the parents would need to manually activate " Adult Sexual Content" in the account preferences for the child to see those games.
There is also the usual age gate as for all games that are meant for a mature audience.
Thats 100% enough according to the law, Steam is not a babysitter, if your children have unsupervised access to Steam and the internet and activated " sexual content" settings then you are a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ parent, thats all.

Besides does not prevent to ask minors for the help of an adult friend to ID them as adults.

Kids are protected, that's the job of the parents. They're the ones who are responsible to check what their kids are doing on the computer and the internet.

Valve has put in age gates as is needed in such situations. A kid will have to actually lie to see the content. Those games are also behind a filter that is defaulted off. So again, a kid will have to actively do something to see the content.

So again, Valve has done what is necessary, the rest is up to the parents.

Valve developed Steam family view. Use that if you want your kids to be supervised automatically.

Its an American thing. Violence is good entertainment for the whole family.
A naked breast before your 18 turns you into a serial killer.
Or something like that, i dont know, Americans are weird.

There are tools available, such as Steam Family View.

It allows you to restrict access to parts of Steam and even to games on the account. I suggest using it. That what I do with my son. I need to enter a pin in order to do many things on his account aside from playing games.

No, it isn't an American thing. There are restrictions, such as an R rated movie requires an adult to buy the tickets and watch. The R rating is often due to extreme violence and graphic content.

I suggest visiting here some time and not going by stereotypes or misinformation. I know I try not to judge other countries on such things, since I haven't been there.

You know what else is money? The shares Valve gets from selling those games you complain about. And that's much more then the tiny amount from a person that has less than ten games.
Besides that there are several ways to filter those games so instead of complaining you should use the time and learn how to use the tools provided to you.

Oh and what exactly do you men by "bring it to the top"? The top of what exaclty? And why do you think people should help you with that? You're acting all entitled when the whole issue is caused by your own incompetence. :profgenki:
I wish this was a joke thread, but these games are hidden for the most part and you have to search these out or allow them to see in the store and if you have a problem with kids on Steam then family share an account.

There are far easier ways to see porn then on Steam...

Porn brings more money than you and your friends ever will. From a business perspective you're the one they have no reason to listen to.

There's also plenty of tools available already, so stop complaining and start using them.

ps. those children need someone to pay for the porn games, so maybe don't give them money for that?
Brian9824 12 sep, 2019 @ 10:01
Hmm. Goes to google, types in search results....

Won't anyone think of the children? We need to shut down the internet ASAP. IT can clearly be used to access Porn by minors so shut it down immediately.

You know Google will show your kids pornography too. Graphic real life people porn. For free! So there isn't even a barrier/gate of having to spend money to get the "good stuff". At least all Steam sells is cartoons, stuff you can see on Google is waaaay more traumatising, graphic, violent, sick (even some stuff for me an adult).

Anyways, Steam is following the law as much as any other place that sells pornography, if you have a problem with it so much, then yes it's a good idea for you not to buy games from Steam anymore. That's your right as a consumer. It won't make a dent in Steam's profits tho.
