Steam clock on profile
Hi guys I was wondering if anybody knows how to make a clock in the textbox of your infobox. Just like this for example https://steamcommunity.com/id/disagreements.

Yea, doing research now can't find to seem how.
Well, you could ask the person, but I assume that's too easy.

Its hard.
:teddy_talk: I've seen an animated clock on a few Steam profiles years ago, I didn't give much thought to it.
One profile was in Norway and the other was Riyadh, SA

If you're on Windows, you do a "Control (Key) + "U" Key and view the page sources, it's likely some external jscript embedded link or something.

My guess will be a bot that is updating it or something of that sort, best to ask the user, but seeing as it does not seem to be affected by local time il assume it's on there side so I think they just got a bot that is updating the time every minute by editing the profile

Wondered about user time zone, but if it's not displaying local time, an editing bot would be my guess too.
Having JS leak would be terrible.
Black Blade is correct. It is a bot that signs into my account which acquires a sessionID and cookies which I can include in a POST request to the Steam servers. What I in theory do is recreate the request that is being sent to the Steam servers once you click "Save" in the edit menu with all the correct parameters. Every minute it runs, gets the current local time for me and sends the request. WHOLF has already asked me if I'd be interested in releasing it, which I might be, but that would require a complete rewrite since the code is a bit messy and there are a lot of hard-coded values in it. For it to work perfectly you would also need a VPS or some kind of server to run it 24/7 as well as your sharedSecret, a token that generates the Steam Guard codes which isn't very easy to get ahold of. It's far from easy to setup, which is why I doubt most people would be willing to go through with it, but if some of you are interested you can add me and I can explain a bit more in detail. (Make sure you comment on my profile first since I also have a script that auto-declines any friend request if you don't leave a comment first )
Nicely written zyN! Thanks for your time mate.
Neat idea. You could probably even have a nighttime/daytime theme shuffle depending on the local time near the account holder.
Makes it border more towards an actual suggestion for profiles to change dynamically with time, but then maybe some people don't want to disclose what the time is where they live for some reason. Minute by minute traffic could also be heavy for every profile, I imagine.

Hm, this is an interesting idea. Would like to see this as a new steam profile feature.

Why? What use it a clock to the visitor of the profile or what information about the user could be gained by it?

:teddy_talk: Yeah. I made an assumption, a bot didn't even cross my mind.

I did find some nice clocks in Wallpaper Engine, a definite far cry and off-topic from a clock on a Steam profile, bu I found some nice clocks that have a highlighted day of the week.

What would be more interesting, would include a date format and even a countdown to the next big Steam sale.

Even more, a live milliseconds and seconds counter :D

:teddy_talk: Be the first to implement this and kinda become thee 'guy' who listened to the next big thing first, something like "Man, I was into these music dudes before anybodies"

It's cool to be a trendsetter now and then.
To watch others herd and "moo" to my path.

Plus, I don't know, call me shallow but I'd like to show off my local time zone :D

Profile gadgets I would call them.

If there was one thing I liked about the Vista OS, that was the desktop gadgets

I don't know why, but I liked the Weather Channel Gadget, to implement a Weather Channel Gadget into my Steam profile would be...
