Start Remaking the Early and Old Classic-Master Games...
Movies get updated and remade, why not computer games too? I would absolutely love to see the likes of 'Colossal Cave', 'Adventureland' and the 'Zork' world remade for instance by some Indie development.

Whoever has the rights has to think that redeveloping the game for modern times would be a profitable venture
Black Blade 11/out./2014 às 15:09
Well only the one owning the rights to the game can do it, and in the past most of the games i think were own most of the time by some big company, some of them eaten up by bigger companys..
As for that indie games cant just come and remake a game, they have to get a greenlight from the owner

also some games will just not appeal much to most players or may not work as well, also remaking the game from the ground up is much work that i do not think will profit much from it

Like taking a game that use to be 2D and making it 3D will end up with a new game all togeder, the story may stay the same, but the game play, that is more or less its core will be gone..
And adding to all that you can run many of them using emulators and stuff... what once again makes all the remake some what point less, as it will cost almost like making a new games, and is likely to profit much less
At least that what i think

Agree, but I'm hoping this might wake someone up who owns the rights. And/or some are in the public domain now? But I don't know how that works. Maybe in another 75 years you'll get a modern taste of these old classics but I won't be around.
a forum post should wake me up to redev a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game I made decades ago and there are not even 20000 comments that cry for a new version? .... nope, I go back chasing butterflies, much more exciting.

I hear you but why then do they remake movies at all? Was War of the Worlds better the second time around.

Although I didn't make it clear at all I'm really talking about games that existed only as text adventures only...although the last Zork ended up with some graphics.

It's all just my opinion here--everyone's mileage varies, and of course no doubt the owners of these classics have thought about it from time to time.
Well nothing personal we are discussing these no? i get its your opinion so is my :D:

Well i think with movies some times its as they just have nothing better to do, or trying to get something done in a new way
And also some games did it as well, not only movies, there are games here and there that are some what of a remake with a new things going around

Just to point out
HL1 has a remake with the new engine and better grafixe (so i heard any how)
The Stanley Parable use to be a mod, then was remade to its own stand alone game:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/221910/

And i am sure there some better examples out there then i can remember and/or that i know of

And maybe the last reason is age and time..
Movies are much older then video games, so had more time to do it, i think its likely in some times will see some video games re-made
Also to point out that there some Board Games that were re-made to Video games
If its Chess, or Space Hulk and many more

You're right. I'm only really zeroing in on a few text adventures I first played and loved in the early '80s and as a result have fixated on them more than the hundreds of games I've played in between. In fact those several I mentioned are really the only ones. Kind of selfish of me and it will never happen. The other thing affecting me about text adventures is that my memory of several of them is more vivid today then a lot of graphic adventures played recently. There is an age factor too no doubt. But I've tried off and on to replay an old text adventure I enjoyed so much back then but it never works--I can't replay them.
Well i cant see a text adventure sadly been re-make, and if it will i think it will just take the base and become something else
And i may be a little lost, but why are you unable to play then the original game?

For me it's because I realize how much better the game would flow with graphics. It's really boring entering N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW, U, and D all the time to move around. No doubt an artist would never get any particular room as right from its text description as what I remembered the room looking like 35 years ago. Ah well, since its so unlikely to happen at all I'm going to move on...
Well if you really want to do that, take some time find who owns the game now and send them a message abut it
I did that with Disney and one of there games, and hell they really got on Steam XD
it dose not take long to look for it, and a email also dose not take long to send

Since it was EA who bought Origin it's very possible that they are the owners to the rights of many of those games. If they are, i'm not sure if i want a remake anymore.

That is something to suggest to a game's developer/publisher directly. Nothing is going to come of it by suggesting it to Steam/Valve.
