Virtual shelf for games
Virtual DVD cases with artwork for the games would be so cool.

I love collecting stuff. Doing it digitally would be perfect for some of us old-school folks.

What says everyone else? Am I the only one who is too old for shelving?

Go to your library, int the upper right there are three types of view to choose from.
Detail View - games list on the left, detailed information on the right
List View - kind of a table with more or less useful information
Grid View - scalable game art only

The last one should be what you want. If you're talking about something like the wall view or left-right browseable case views from Kodi/XBMC you're out of luck. But that's only a novelty and near unusable with 100s of games anyway.

The main problem is the artwork; some devs aren't going to upload their DVD art, which means that some of the games will end up with some sort of default art, and it'll look pants.

To be honest, it sounds like the sort of the thing that a third-party app would do a lot better than something built into Steam, because they could afford to really spend the time to lovingly render a bunch of virtual DVD cases.

a big chunk of games never came out on retail. why should someone create diskcase cover art, if they dont need to.

Thanks for the replies guys. I do currently use the big face art (last right selection) But I was hoping for something not so futurelike.

I agree, the art wouldnt be proper, for most games, but the Community would definitely do some cool stuff if implemented.

I know you guys remember the original xbox cover art for bootlegs. some were better than the actual releases.

thanks again guys. Really happy that the community is a home away from home.

Peace.

Try Anarchy Arcade, its also on steam and free. Of course this sounds a bit overkill for just a graphical overview of your games, but you can customize much there.

Not necessary and probably puts a bit of extra work on those who had no boxes to begin with....but I won't lie. It would be a nifty little extra.

Ya, I kinda feel the same way. I use to love my nes collection back in the days. The cartridge, sleeve, box art, and guide art. The covenience of digital is still worth the trade off though. I imagine smart fans will end up creating everything everyone wants down the line. Personally I would like to have the ability to move my games around into custom made inventories sectors. Favorites and alphabetical order etc is not good enough. I would liike to creat a turkey section where all my crap games go and another one where my old school stuff goes and so on. Anyone can make their own category.

@SeniorMike OH the "turkey" selection would be awesome! I love it! I hate mingling games together. Im sure theres an alternative way to do this here, but Everything you said was on point.

Hi man, you may have missed it, but you can also set games category all ready in the library, if that is what you talking abut
Just right click the game and category it, you can also multi select with Ctrl (or shift for some in Oder, just like on Windows Explorer)
