Lost My Entire Games Library
Hi, I used to be very active on Steam about 8 or 9 years ago. I had dozens of games in my library. I then stopped using Steam for a long time, but recently, I decided to log back in and check out my old profile. To my surprise, almost all of my games are gone! I even checked my purchase history, and it is completely empty!

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Does anybody know why this might've happened?

That only happens when you log into the wrong account.
Check your email receipts as those contain the account name of the account where the game was bought on.

Did you login to correct account, everytime I hear this story for some reason they have more than one account, and forget about it, so if you're sure, I suggest you do this, view your emails if you have kept them, read the account name on them, and double check on the login name.

If for whatever reason you have remove games from account, you can readd them by going to Steam support page, type in game name, and click not in library, and click restore back to library.

I think you may be right. I looked in my email, and apparently I have another account that I completely forgot about. Awesome.

Now to reset my password...

You can search for other accounts by email and/or phone number. It's explained here, if that helps :

EDIT.......Whoops. Sorry, wrong link. Edited and corrected.

I've tried resetting the password to my other account several times now, and every time I do the captcha, I get this error:

"Your response to the CAPTCHA appears to be invalid. Please re-verify that you're not a robot below."

Those captchas can be trouble at times; somewhere there's something wrong in the system.
Did you try different browsers? Sometimes that helps.

Yeah, I tried Chrome, Firefox, and Brave. Also tried Incognito with all of them.

Feel free to see what others did, if anything but wait a while, in that situation :

After trying again on Edge, I was able to solve the captcha and get to the password reset screen. However, now when I try to set a new password, I see this error:

"An error occurred trying to handle that request (Error 29)"

EDIT: Just tried again in Brave and I was able to successfully reset my password! How odd. But hey, no complaints here! Thanks to everyone who offered their help.

Ah now if you've been having trouble do the dance with getting captchas to work on certain browsers, then you possibly have some plugin in one of your browsers that wrecks things. This is quite common (and it's likely Chrome if you're also gettnig it in the Steam UI directly).

You can double chedk this by simply starting Windows in safe mode with networking and doing whatever you need to. If it works then it is either a plugin or some crapware causing the issue.

captcha errors are 99% due to cross-domain operations, which all browsers have methods for to "protect" you from "activity tracking".

firefox: shield in the url-bar. disable tracking protection for this website and also somewhere available in options.
other browser, similar.
