How often do activated game codes get removed?
''Your recent Product code activation has been revoked due to a problem processing payment for this item. The games associated with this product code can no longer be played as a result. This could be due a problem with the payment methods you used to acquire this item from a third-party seller; or a problem with how the third-party seller acquired the Product code. Please contact the seller you acquired the Product code from for assistance.''

I buy game keys fairly often, but this happened to me for the first time.

Now I'm concerned if I should continue buying them or not. I definitely do not want to waste money and time.

Does this happen often?

If your buying from unauthorized sites, there’s a chance your buying stolen codes or codes purchased with stolen credit cards. You buy from shady sites, this will continue to occur.

I either buy from safe sites or individual people in the steam trading cards group

There's your red flag. Who knows where those people found those keys? :hmm:

True I guess, but unfortunately big sites don't have the games I want too often

Individuals you deal with can simply do chargebacks.

That's better for you to have to wait or get them somewhere else, than to buy them from a shady source, all to have the content revoked from your account later on, possibly.

Given those two choices, I know what I would do. :steamhappy:

I've had two so far, both for games that I got from giveaways back when all those obscure giveaway groups popped up all over the place and started throwing trash games at people.

Is there a place I can see my revoked games list? I had such a message pop up and I accidentally closed it prior to reading it :|

Ah yes, there's your problem. What do you deem "safe sites"?

Because the only proper ones are sites like the Bundle chairites like HUmble Bundle, Indie Gala and so on, and most definitely NOT strangers trading and dodgy key reseller sites that some use (do note - the fact that a lot of people use something does NOT make it legitimiate).

Change your ways, basically, or it'll keep happening.

I still have the message, but it doesn't mention the game. Just the date of removal

it mentions "Complimentary reviewer package"
https://steamdb.info/search/?a=sub&q=Complimentary+reviewer+package
about 350 with just that name and not mentioning the game/appid.

these are older product packages when the naming scheme was not enforced.

the only way to find out yourself is to know what you activated that day yourself or you monitored your own account with something like ITAD.

these packages are also not intended to be commercially used for Steam keys as the name already indicates.
