nvidia gamestream crashes steam application
Hi,

From early sunday till now can't use steam when i start streaming to my phone via nvidia gamestream. It started when steam updated at that moment. I've tryied lot of settings and nothing seems to work. It seems like both applications (steam and gamestream) are using same memory space.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Well...

You can try to see if Streaming is enabled on Steam, if so disable it then try..

Or instead of using the gamestream whatever that is as i dont use NVIDIA's GFE Bloatware, you could instead use Steam Link on your phone, unless gamestream has something specific you need.

But yeah, thats all i can think of.

will try checking streaming feature on steam. I need gamestream for a DIY VR HMD that i use. So i send the whole desktop to my phone, and not an specific game.

Thanks for your time. Will see that later and then post back.
no luck setting streaming feature on steam. Will continue trying another way to fix it
does it work fine with Steam closed?

i suppose they could be using the same ports or something..

other than trying a clean uninstall/reinstall of the drivers and software with DDU in safe mode not really sure what else you could try.
Dont worry CJ, thanks a lot for your time. I surrender for now on gamestream, by the way, it works fine with steam closed. I'll have to wait to an update from both, steam and GF Experience and see what happens. In the meantime i've tested steam link, and i dont recommend it for playing, very bad framerate and poor video quality. It's really really so beta that sucks. BUT i've found an alernative to gamestream that's called parsec. Works really nice and for my surprise i think it works better than nvidia gamestream.

Again, thank you.
Final update: i've found the problem. To prevent steam crashes when gamestream starts, you need to enable multiple controller support on moonlight cellphone's app.

Problem fixed, discussion closed.
and, finally, by the way, parsec it's not better than moonlight. The final streaming quality no matter the settings, is bad or poor. Gamestream streams video like hdmi quality.

Didn't fix it, discussion open.

I have been having the same problems with steam crashing while using gamestream. I even have to restart the computer before steam will start working again even after the gamestream is closed.
Same problem for me. Windows 10 fresh installation with latest steam and geforce experience. Try to gamestream to an nvidia shield tv 2017.
Steam crashes every time it's launched or already running through gamestream. Each time a crash happens I can find a core dump in the steam directory. Steam works perfectly without a gamestream session. After a crash the only way to restart steam is a reboot or delete the "virtual usb device" created in the control panel of windows 10.
Everybody that is having this problem please remember to submit support tickets for it through steam.

Steam Menu > Help > Steam Support > Steam Client > Steam Client Crashes > Contact Steam Support

Report the problem you are having with the client crashing there. The more people report it there the more likely it will get fixed in a more timely manner.
Support ticket already sent yesterday. No response yet from Steam.

latest update mentions something with nvidia gamestream.
Gonna test new Steam beta in a few hours. I will tell you whether it fixes the issue.

I just now tried it. It does not look like it fixes anything.
