Game Code From NewEgg Won't Work

After buying the parts for my new gaming rig, I got a code for mafia 3, when i copy and paste the code it won't accept it.

Well, is it a code for Steam? Steam codes come in the pattern of three groups of five letters, which is fairly unique. Also make sure you don't get white spaces with the copy-paste as Steam will not trim them.

It says it is a steam code, though the code does not match any of the formats steam uses. The instructions in the email say to enter it through steam.

Then it's not a Steam code. Period. You have to talk to the seller about it.

First guess would be a uPlay code. They are the only ones I know that use the odd grouping, though the code should be shorter.
Okay, scratch that, uPlay has a XXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX format. Yours I have never seen.

As I said, talk to the retailer.

Uplay and Origin both both do not have mafia 3 as much as i can see

The current ASUS offer works the same way too - redeem the code on the manufacturer's website to receive the Steam key.

I tried it and entered the code(it was the right format I belive) though I have to register my motherboard which is impossible since I don't even have it yet and defenitly don't have the serial number. So I'll have to wait till I build my pc or at least the motherboard is delivered.
