Reporting accounts.
Hello,

I've seen quite a lot of Steam accounts acting like they are working for Valve, game companies which they don't even work for, acting like an admin or something from a certain website and others.

Now, we can ofcourse report this account which is good, but when multiple people are reporting an account, will the process be quicker or? I mean, a lot of reports seems quite suspicious and serious right?

So here is the thing, i know i'm not allowed to name shame but this person is acting like a Steam Supported / Valve Employee. I reported this account but isn't it a idea to have something like a group / team where we can report these accounts to the members over there and they will report that fake account also?

Sorry if my English is bad.

So what's the problem with this? Intent and perception comes to mind, and neither are relevant in the end. The only thing which matters here is if that person has broken the forum rules or not, if they did you should report that post. Done.

The whole idea to report an account because of what they posted is a dumb one. And no, mob justice will not get you anywhere on Steam. If you have a problem with someone's post then report that post, not the account. For obvious reasons: where's the proof?

Unless we're talking about someone who tried to scam you by pretending to be a Steam admin and telling you that you had to trade your items with them (or something similar). In that case it does make sense to report the profile (aka account).

But in all cases: report, block (recommended) and then move on. Don't bother with anything else, let Support deal with it.

Yes, i've seen a lot of reports.
But only reports of game hubs which are then in a sub forum viewable by moderators and above.
What i'm wondering is, how the process works.. What is the process behind 'reporting a player'.
A Steam member, not from a game hub thread.

You report a profile, someone looks at it and takes action. It's not rocket science. More people reporting a profile doesn't speed it up and can actually slow it down.

You can report them to moderators via their comment section or report them to Support. Or just you can report the profile directly.

Reporting through the profile usually results in a support member going through and investigating the report and either do nothing or take action. Action taken Community Messages are usually sent out the same time every day, 7 or 9 PM ET.

Because he is observant. He also has reported even more posts than I have.

Yeah that's... how moderation is done literally everywhere. So if your claims of being some kind of mod around are true, you cannot possibly be doing it right.

So not only more reports to read but also from people reporting for hearsay?
Zekiran 18/fev./2020 às 0:21
No that's called a "posse" and it's absolutely not okay.

This is why we normally say, do not report someone if you yourself were not scammed, harassed, or otherwise need to report.

I mean, unless they're a filthy nazi or racist with a filthy profile. Then, everyone should report.

I'm never too sure where the idea of 'spamming reports make it more true' comes from. Every report matters, in fact spamming a few accounts might take away time from other legit reports.

Well, it comes from "just a minority is against the new library, so it does not matter".
Or things like that.
KillahInstinct 18/fev./2020 às 0:32
I don't think anyone ever said that.

Besides, a report (someone breaking the rules, or not) is something different than an opionion - which is quite a bit more subjective and not something you can measure. You can't please everyone though.
