Why can't Steam have multiple tabs like browsers?
So I can see more games at once and switch between them?

Hold control, click on link, so where ever the link you want to open in a new window is.

Either I'm retarded or it doesn't work. So click on the green URL?

No. On links within the page itself. Any picture banner for a game.

because Steam should not be used as your webbrowser. it is there to serve the basic need to do basic stuff on Steam.

if you need extended browser functionality then please use a normal webbrowser.

On a more technical answer, Steam can't run 2 or more windows , why
in my opinion it is because the activity will need to refresh /update to apply to that open section.
That in itself could bug out the Steam Client were there more than one Steam client open.
I just tried it by r/click the Steam in my taskbar open BootStrapper and it simples replaces the desktop page of Steam I had open.
With the browser version the Steam client, to open another instance there is only New incognito window.
But you can have the desktop Steam Client open
and the web browser version of Steam Client open at the same time.

Its not really inteded to be a browsre but more that the front end is web based so the client renders the page for you because it has to. Same reason various other apps like the Origin client or the Bnet client dont allow it. its intended for an integrated experience for the store. Not as your working browser
Wish Steam had tabs because I keep wanting to right-click things I want to buy and select "open in new tab" so I can continue shopping without the page jumping to another page when I add something to my cart, then my having to go back, and then having to scroll through an ass-ton of content to get back to where I was. Steam should just have tabs I feel this is a little obvious and should have been implemented by now. Not user-friendly to not exclude this feature.

None of these comments make sense. We can open them in new windows. An open Tab is nothing different, if not even simpler version of a window, as it doesn't need decoration.

The main reason, I would guess, is, the steam client does not use the Windows GUI, but the ValveGUI.

I suppose that it simply doesn't support tabs. Or doesn't support them well enough to manage what they need. It seems to handle tabs in the chat module at least. But they are a much simpler thing

How is a standalone new window more integrated than a tab?

From a security standpoint, there is no difference between a window or tab, if started from the same parent.

Performance? I think more tabs increase the ammount of resources needed.
Imagine necroing this

It does make sense.

The simple fact of the matter is that it was never designed to be a full blown web browser. It was just an ibuilt function to display certain web based links and features of games.

And if you do open multiple tabs, boy does it ever eat up the RAM for some users. You can search the forums for many examples of that happeneing.
