Games without steam trading cards
How is it possible what certain game have tag "Steam Trading Cards" in the shop, but they actually don't have any cards in reality?

What I noticed is what owning (e.g. buying) such game doesn't add anything into "Badges", so now I have to buy game, check "Badges", if there is nothing - refund, right? I refunded 3 so far.

Feels like a new kind of developer cheat. Is it really allowed by Steam? I'd expect developer ban in such scenarios (not fullfilling promises). Or is it a Steam technical issue? I am looking for any kind of information about this subject.

The game may not be qualified to drop cards yet. It has them, but until it reaches a certain trust threshold with steam.. no cards will drop for it

What is that? You see, I want to get games with cards, not games what "may" get cards (or not).

So is it a steam fault? Because they don't let existing game feature to function?

It was done to combat the deluge of half assed games that basically only functioned to generate trading cards and revenue from the trading cards.

Just buy gams you want to play and when they become eligible to drop you'll get the cards.

normally only games receive this store tag when they have cards.

examples?

Thanks guys, it's clear to me what is going on, since May of 2017:
Instead of starting to drop Trading Cards the moment they arrive on Steam, we're going to move to a system where games don't start to drop cards until the game has reached a confidence metric that makes it clear it's actually being bought and played by genuine users. Once a game reaches that metric, cards will drop to all users, including all the users who've played the game prior to that point. So going forward, even if you play a game before it has Trading Cards, you'll receive cards for your playtime when the developer adds cards and reaches the confidence metric.
That's again half-implemented feature, as many things what Steam does (vr ♥♥♥♥ in library, no ability to disable vr, lack of filtering options in library and inventory, etc.). It affects customers and developers and I am suprised to being hitting into it with my head half-year after it's "released".. sigh.

I do, I buy good game and I also buy cards-only games. Don't ask me why, just let me do what I like ;)

And here we see why there are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ developers putting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ games out there. More proof that the gaming community is the source of the very problems it complains about.

the mentioned games should not be tagged with trading cards since they don't fulfill the requirements to have them. they have way too less Steam purchases.

Why are you buying a game to make a badge? You can make badges for games you dont own, just buy cards off of market or card trading bots.
You've been on Steam for 10 years and you buy games to get card drops just to make badges?
You know, you can buy cards to make badges for a lot cheaper.

These crappy $1 games strictly for cards are useless. Why waste time idling or "playing" trash like that when you can instantly do that with other cheap cards.

I also do that.

Please, stay constructive and on topic. The issue is: games have tag which they are not fulfilling and what should be done about that.
What should be done is already done.
Until it's fullfilled, you get no cards.

Now that you know this fact, there's nothing more to be said.

Of course, Steam can add a text next to it or an asterisk but you should be able to tell which games will have cards by searching the market.

It's common sense.

OP refuses to accept changes to card system that was changed because of user abuse, and cant cope with fact he can either:
1. wait for cards to be released, because nobody is lieing about them, you just need to wait
2. check market before buying the game if it has cards released

case closed.

Or to put it another way, The changes were made to counter the influx of devs and games that the OP's buying habings encourage.

It is not the developers, it is a bug in steam. As others have noted Steam updated the way cards work so that cards will only appear for games with a certain amount of sales through steam, to avoid junk games given away en masse for free just to get fees from the marketplace, even if the game is so rubbish literally no one every bought it.

Which was fine, but it left a bug in the steam store because the "Steam Cards" that appears in the store page doesn't seem to be aware of this change, so when that appears it now means it may have steam cards, it might get steam cards in the future, or it might never get steam cards if it never meets the threshold. All it seems to mean is the developer has created the cards and submitted them to steam/valve.
