Space Haven

Space Haven

ever see people lose a whole bar of energy in leisure?
now again, over 1000 hours, I'm kind of used to the energy requirement mechanic.

explain this one to me.

straight out of bed after a 6 hour sleep, just in the 2 hour leisure time for "breakfast", not even starting work... two entire shifts of 8 people are entirely drained of stamina / energy and cannot work... like completely. even after being augmented with intramuscular meshes! (and fully healed up 9+ days afterwards)

pop out of bed with minor comfort, feeling energetic, sleeping comfortably, and in a good mood... head to breakfast and gain good leisure space, had a good meal... and while standing there at the arcade machines or staring out the window after eating or chatting with others... their stamina is steadily going down, faster than anything in-game from work or combat, faster than working in a -200 comfort work environment in a spacesuit that's too loud and too hot.

the only debuffs are normal ones, maybe a someone was mean to me, spacesuit fatigue (10) (they live in suits their whole shift if pilots or industry) which is -20, so the intramuscular mesh should offset that exact amount... the crazy ones are awake (-18) and work (-86).. they've been awake less than 2 hours and haven't had any work in 7 hours.

basically my 3rd and 4th shifts are staggered 6 hrs offset for sleeping conditions so they can hot-bunk with shared rooms to minimize the amount of private bunk rooms, but they are essentially dedicated away teams and boarding parties, they get to goof off as much as they want til I draft them, all their priorities are low except the few that have good piloting, they can jump in starfighters if needed and there's a shortage during their awake shift...

but they're currently USELESS. they wake up, and during their meal, become exhausted and want to go back to bed, or wander around looking to sit down with no-work symbols. I need them fresh and 90+ energy for prolonged combat. and they haven't been on a raid in many days. I was thinking this was temporary and I've sent them out successive days too much and they need a break, but ~5 days now of nothing but downtime, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

the only thing I probably do differently than most gamers, I leave the game running 24/7 for days, weeks, and tab over when I have time to play while working... a ps -p <processID> -o etime shows spacehaven has been running 5-19:38:28... a bit over 4 hours shy of 6 days. I know there was an update yesterday and I should probably exit and grab it, but I haven't yet. 🤷‍♂️ so if this is something math related that creeps in on extended playtimes, no idea.

Never happened to me. Though the first thing i do is increase their hours to 7 hours of sleep.
(Later on once we have more folks to 8.)
If I'm not mistaken (I have 200 hours of gameplay and "3 late-game" ) Indusrty no need space suite, nocif gaz aren't calculed dynamically (It's not "Oxygen not included!"), put "purificator" close too in a room and its enough.
I personnaly have no crew who stay in leisure all the day expect in combat.
Ark, I know how comfort works, but thanks for trying to help. :-) well, somewhat. still don't see how people get those ludicrously high leisure values without modloader and using mods for tweaking with more options, 70 is about it for me for any break room tile, if 90 or 100 is truly possible in vanilla SH I want to see examples! :-) (70 still give major comfort +18, it's just one of those "if they can do it, why can't I ?!" kind of things.)

on paper there's no reason for that -86 for work unless it's a result of stacked spacesuit fatigue; but if that's the case, then the mechanic needs adjusting; if you've worked in a spacesuit every single day for months, you should get more and more used to it, or snap and have to be removed from spacesuit task duty; letting debuffs endlessly stack so they pop out of bed exhausted is crazy, without some indicator this is what is happening.

hey you might not build O2-free rooms just above freezing, but Nord knows the benefit of this with respect to conserving water and minimizing fire outbreaks when industry machinery eventually breaks and ignites... fire goes out immediately. production is slower and more accident prone (til mid-game when you can cerebral cap augment them) but the difference is most definitely worth it, especially approaching ~30 crew and ~30 visitors sucking up all that air and requiring all that AC/heat and CO2 removal.

just wish there was an obvious or explained way to see if it's legitimate debuff or something broke in the code, because you cannot tell from the conditions panel. guess I'll keep em doing whatever they want to for another week and see if it recovers.
