Space Haven

Space Haven

Derelicts spawning off viewable area.
Derelicts can spawn outside the viewable area.
This in itself isn't such a problem. Except you can land on them and still walk around...
You can't see anything but you can still explore.

It gets super odd when a derelict is half in the viewable area and then you get like a black wall you can't see past, but where things are still happening...

The particular derelict I have this on right now is an asteroid station, just in case it's relevant.

Yes, it's frustrating when you have derelict highlighted, yet cannot see whats going in
the only time you can see the whole outline is fully zoomed out, but yeah, that fog-of-war thing is silly. had a derelict cascade event where ~9 station visitors self-derelicted against a well-defended bot spammer; new friendlies were starting to arrive in the blacked-out area, and fighting with the bots, but you can only see it fully zoomed out, otherwise all you see stray PDT and starfighter rounds flying out of the darkness...

I think it's an intended "hurry up if you're gonna loot this, cause you're gonna lose people/bots when it despawns" kind of thing... I don't hate or love it, it's just a thing that is.

Which is actually fine and sort of works.
It's when it's incoming derelicts that it's really frustrating.

Is your sector full of ships or no? Do they float into your viewable sector with time or never come inside that "safe space"?

If answers to both are no you can press F11 when playing when in such a situation and send in your saved game to us.

No the sector was mostly empty. There was one NPC ship and one derelict I think. However one thing I did notice is that the incoming derelict was in line with the NPC, so perhaps this pushed the spawn further out somehow???

Yes it eventually drifted into the sector and I successfully explored and looted it.

The main frustration was that I actually landed on it and explored about 75% of it and then realised that unless I wanted to explore in the dark I had to just wait for it to come into the sector.

I feel like if there are my guys on it I should be able to see... But knowing this now I will just wait for future derelicts to fully drift into veiw first.

wow, thats sound slike a LOT of fun, I love when chaos and struggle happen and it's not aonly me having to struggle and deal with all the crap happening xD. It is great feeling, that the Universe is equally cruel to everyone.
