Space Haven

what would cause a friendly ship to linger ~50 days?
I've checked, none of their people are on the station, or any derelict, they're not trading, not with me, not with others in orbit, their shuttles are parked...

... they won't leave. I know my station is famous for it's services, but captain: do something.

Maybe they already have all suffocated ?:)
Maybe their inventory is filled up to the brim, airlock is blocked, they still wanna buy autotraded item but it's impossible to get them in?
well if they suffocated they'd derelict, and their ship icon would go grey and you wouldn't be able to start a trade and look at inventory... they do have essentials for sale, still, so...

muko brings up an interesting one though, that would suck, but over 50 days, they'd deplete something, constant drain on at least food and water and energy to the point they'd have at least 10 slots free unless somehow their own production was filling it back up faster..

hmm since scanning them is an act of war, I guess I'll cheat a little and become a +100 faction points ally via save editing, at least then I can see their scopes, see inside and what's going on.
Let me know, because I have exactly the same issue
looking at the ship definition, there's 6 crew, doing OK, they've ate recently, their mood are in the 20 to -20 range, and their storage bins are not full, one large storage only has 20 items... but they're not doing anything at all. just walking around idling. was thinking about trading with them til they get a deficit of something important, but since I'm editing the save anyway, I just removed <ship> to </ship> and <poof!> they fade from existence. not the best solution, but a solution for me!
lack of fuel to jump? a trade unfulfilled? I once tared a single peice of meat and my crew ate it so they waited ages for it's delivery.

Yeah them only having 20 items seems excessively low.
Like not enough infra/tech/hull/softblocks, hyperium, energium, food, metal plates.
basicly 20 items means they are unfit for travel.
I am guessing they are also out of money so they cant really buy much:S It is why they linger there.
that was just one storage bin, there were others with stuff, was just indicating they had room to take on any trades they did with others in the sector.

the fact they weren't doing anything was the weird part, no one at ops or shields, no one doing logistics (could only see 2 logistics bots) either something glitched or there was a deadlock with something; shuttles docked and have never seen them move, airlocks were clear not stacked to capacity, etc. if I see it again I'll keep the saves and compare the <ship> blocks from all the autosaves and see if it's discernible what happens. (didn't look at their credits, should have!)

I think I got an answer - some of the ships turned into derelicts yet it appears you cannot take step in areas when one ship overlaps each other vertically - meaning they want to make a business with you, but they can't access airlocks or storage.
no that's easily checkable, just zoom all the way out, you can see if there's stacked ships, ships in the fog-of-war area, etc, and you can click their individual ship icons that way to interact with them, there wasn't a double-ship situation, but yeah if you don't zoom all the way out every few minutes, it's annoying. especially once you're late-game and richer than anyone, 500k+ credits and climbing, and have 30% shares in all 5 Haven mining projects; those shuttles warp in under the visitors and derelicts, and you can't see em to tag em and empty em... and then they stay anyway, floating away slowly. Haven sure wastes a lot of cargo containers! :-)
