Station mode - Storage bugged
As my title says, i have a bugged storage on my station. The crew will fill it, but wont empty it of anything. As such i have 20 infrablocks in that storage, and 2 repairs that need to be done, yet the game is saying in RED that i have run out of Infrablocks. EVEN THOUGH the station inventory lists 20, and the storage itself lists 20, i have 0....

i do/did have my Adv Assembler set to keep 20 infra on hand at all times so idk if thats related. Also i had the same problem with tech blocks and Hull blocks (also in the same storage) and the way i got around it was instead of minimum on hand of 5, i increased to 10, or 10 to 20 in the case of infrablocks. but if 20 isnt enough and they wont empty that storage anyways i can increase 20->40 or something in the meantime.

Yet that will still leave me with the bugged storage. I can make ppl stop putting stuff in, but no matter what i do they wont remove blocks from that. which sucks because i have like 80 hyperfuel in there as well

remember the saves are just .xml, you don't have to abandon it if you don't want to... if you pause the game, tag the storage bin they're in, and note the numbers of other things in that bin, 80 hyperfuel, 4 of this, 3 things of 2, 9 of this, etc... you can search for it.

open the save directory's "game" file in a text editor and search for "s elementaryId="162" inStorage="20" (162 is the itemID for infrablocks, which you can find from tables of most SH game IDs all over the internet, even in the modding sub-discussion here.) look up and down to see if the item counts inStorage= above are the same, to make sure you go the right bin...

if the syntax looks correct, like it didn't write something funny or corrupted, compared to the lines around it, try turning off the rules for that bin; click select all and no rule. see if that frees them up.

if not, I'd just cut all the "<s elementaryId=" lines, save and load that save, bin should be empty, disassemble it, craft a new one, put a few items in it with varying contents that you can search on like above and find it in the save, and paste the contents of the old busted bin into the new hotness bin, and its inventory should function as expected. don't worry about capacity, if you go over capacity the game doesn't care, as you use up stuff eventually it won't be full anymore.

saw you reddit post, no idea, just go to that storage bin and set a rule to kick em out, let the bots/crew take em to another bin, see if that works...
thanks but i tried that.. im at a loss. i think ill let this save go until another patch is pushed. i already used the bug report feature so i uploaded the save to the devs to let them figure it out lol
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

This may be a stupid question, but have you tried dismantling the storage? Also, it might be a good idea to send an in-game bug report to the devs (F11), so they can have a look.
yep dumb question, as in, sure, good idea, but has already stated it won't shift boxes when he sets an eject rule for em on the rules tab. storage bins got to be empty to move or dismantle. (or deleted from existence manually via save editing.) F11 definitely a good idea if it persists over multiple startup-load save-exit sessions, though!
thanks @Death Approaches, i wasnt expecting anything further on this! thats aweseome. i will do just that then. i didnt expect it to be that easy to edit the storage. but yea i can def do that.
The no matter what you do, have you tried to enforce rules on that storage? There is an prohibit placement and empty storage option.
update: so it worked. Sorta. I edited everything out of the storage like you suggested, but nobody would interact with it even with the generic dismantle. thankfully i was able to assign the job. I also had to cancel the 2 repair tasks and delete the items needing repair because for some reason they still didnt recognize the 5 new infrablocks i let my crew make *accidently lost the text editor after deleteing the storage contents so couldnt paste back in* and then i could build new stuff with them

yes, the crew wont interact with that storage for some reason even if i tell them to actually eject everything into space manually. wouldnt work. had to do what death suggested and edit it to empty and then manually assign someone from my crew to dismantle it. dunno why. was working for ages
update 2: Annnnd im back. It seems its the game not just that storage. without replacing the same storage or blocks. i just made new infra's sitting at 12 currently. It does show in the upper left that i have them, but now i have multiple things needing repair that need infra or to be replaced that need infra, and its saying i still have 0.... so idk. new run after a patch
After 50 or soi hours of playing this unstable version, it randomly started doing this to me. I quit the new game mode because i couldn't fix it.
