[Beta 2] Services involving auto-trade unbalanced?
The people-based services seem to work great (Entertainment, Medical ... haven't made it far enough to try Dining but I assume it's the same). A limited number of crew come and partake.

The Repair service works great. Plenty of derelicts for making hull blocks and, again, a limited number of NPC ships are actually damaged so it's easy to keep up.

However I've tried Ore Processing and Fuel (and fully suspect Industry and Fabrication to behave likewise) and find they're "unsustainable" in my opinion. It doesn't matter how much you stockpile, once you turn on the service you sell out in a day or two. It seems EVERY ship will use these services and they buy you out (or to your set minimum) very quickly.

Once that happens you're forced to turn off the service. If you don't, you get repeated "negative service ratings" because you're sold out (or don't have ALL of the resources available).

Take for example Ore Processing. I have 2 ore processors running 24/7 and they just can't keep up. I'll have 3-5 NPC ships come/go before they can produce more (which is then immediately bought and the cycle repeats). Demand far exceeds supply.

I tried Fuel, but unless I buy every scrap of Hyperium and Hyperfuel from everyone who stops by ... there's no way you can even FIND enough Hyperium to keep up with demand.

Again, I've not made if "far enough" into a game to test Industry or Fabrication but I expect it's the same. With basically EVERY ship wanting to buy EVERYTHING there's no way to keep up. (Well, unless of course that's the idea. Offer "Fuel" until you run out and then turn it off? Or possibly these are intended to be "end-game" options once you're getting kick-backs from the Haven Foundation's mining operations?)

Suggest a little "balancing" is in order. Either limiting the number of ships that will engage in the service, or limiting the quantity of items they will buy.

That sounds rough dude I haven't turned on those services yet either.

I've been experimenting with Medical - Sleep - Recreation and Diner and it's brought in a significant chunk of cash thankfully.

There are somethings that are station only. I wonder if a solution was to research a way to store excess solar energy to sell to the ships passing by because your station could in theory take more energy in overtime.

I might try the ore processing next though but I'll try with several more.
if you want a good supply of raw material you have to secure the mine for the haven foundation yes. They will send you a % of the ressource they extract over time. You can even invest money to get a better share of it.
With this selling fuel is easily doable.
yep get 20% share in one if you can afford it, then when the opportunity arises, spend what you can on each additional shareholder stake... the prices ramp up fast, but so do the credits when you offer a wide variety of services.

DO NOT leave them all turned on constantly, turn them on at-will, because they will exploit the crap out of you.... you'll be really mad at yourself when you can't repair yourself cause you gave away all your hull blocks on repairs for money, and now can't even buy any.

but your "once in a while" is doggie doodoo after a point... if you're day 65 or something on a 2x2 and you're built up, 3/4ths tech researched, and have ALL of them turned on, and are at 50+ "fame" or whatever the successful transaction is, you, good sir, are basically running the BooBies breastaurant and space refueling station, minus the outer space maid cafe and prostitution. :possession:

it becomes an endless line, sometimes 7, 8 vessels, ... they'll warp to you in 3s and 4s at once! you have to scroll down multiple times to see all pending and current visitors... and that's exactly when one of those runaway rogue bot derelicts floats into your orbit, and they successively suicide over and over and over and over... now there's 15 derelicts cluttering up your map and you'd love to loot some of them, but with 3 of them spamming rogue bots in sets of 3 at you every few seconds... uhh... can I get a replacement? I just passed out and crapped my pants, now the PDTs are offline...

even if you got there, the main "seed" ships are so botted up now, just landing is death, even best armor, hero, plasma or laser w/ grenade launcher... you get to fire once; ~16 chimps lighting you up in a kill box; you can't even flee, you deploy, you die. end of. happens so fast you're like "uhh..."

oh look, we're floating into that huge nebula... that's going to last EIGHT DAYS... bye bye shields. bye bye pretty asteroid base I spent 20+ hours on. 3-6 hull breaches and damaged equipment, people, and your bots. oh look, time to endure a micrometeroids bombardment while shieldless... yay. roll back!

even when you can "keep up" it's stacked against you. it's got no real tuning yet, this is all new. it'll get better. right now it can get a bit bonkers bananas at times. :claptrap:
In the screen, where you select the services, you can set a minimum level to keep. This is especially useful for hull blocks.

As others said, you pretty much have to do the Haven Foundation missions to get mining share. I was going to come here and talk about the opposite, because with 3 mining sites, I was not able to sell them fast enough.
