Space Haven

Don't make my hyperdrive mistake.
So I'm laying out my initial ship, coming back after several years away to see what all is in the 1.0 release.

I make the same rook mistake I did years ago. I designed my whole industrial room and part of my research/C&C in the aft near the hyperium engines. Now I've upgraded to X1 hyperdrive engines and have to redesign the whole ship to move everything one block forward to fit these new engines in. I have a 1x3 long skinny ship, so I can't wiggle it around the canvas at all.

To clarify:

What neo5apien forgot to take into account, that a hyperdrive normal is 4by3 sized facility(the part that is within ship) the x1 is 5by3 sized:)
Surely you can just go to hyperdrive, then on jumping into a new sector you can pull the ship out of the sector back into the to be deployed list and move it around the canvas (move it one block north) so now there is room to expand the hull one tile south after removing the engines?

(Assuming North is towards the front of the ship here)
it sounds like they made a ship the full length of the 3 long canvas
It wasn't as much rebuilding as I thought it would be thankfully. Just move a wall here, delete a research station, move a metal refinery over there, etc. The worst part was waiting on a nearly full large storage to be emptied so it could be moved a few tiles away.
Indeed. Moving completely stuffed large storages is the worst when remodeling a ship or station.

I've suggested BugByte to make a QoL about changing how storage facilities are dismantled. My suggestion was upon demolishing an intact storage, all contents spill on the floor, like little crate piles, ready to pickup.

For gameplay, damaged or destroyed storages may not enjoy this until fully repaired. This is to be consistent with currently destroyed storages have their contents stay inaccessible until fully repaired.

Honesly i would say a better option for the storage would be a special storage meant for moving. You click on the storage you want to empty, and then on the special storage, and it teleports everything that was n the storage to the special storage. Then once you build a new one you can port it there:P
