Awards for station-building missions
Almost every time I finish a station-building mission, I only get the minimum reward. Can you tell me what criteria are used to evaluate these missions?

There are not many boni you can get though.
Like a bonus rep of 1-3 and maybe an extra 1000 cred.

But to get this you need to make a REALLY WELL EQUIPPED BASE.
As in if you make the minimum of what you were required, you get 0 bonus.

By adding industry/farming/shields/jammer/solar power gens, medical station extra room etc.

(Basicly your best bet is to make a station that suits your needs as well, as you can set what they will buy and produce. For instance build them three composters. Set the biomass to infinite before handing over the station and from here on they will buy all your biomass forever. You can do the same with growing beds. Set what they should grow. Set their meals in the kitchen etc.:P)
In my experience, mission rewards are almost never worth the effort required to complete the mission in the first place.
When I built a military base, I provided everything they wanted and even more (a scanner, an energy turret, three point-defense turrets instead of two, a medical bed, a small shield plus a big shield, three extra autoturrets, an energy refinery, a few logistics robots, and a prison zone for 10 prisoners — which they didn’t even take). I got only +2 rep.
The same happened when I was building a trading station. I added two point-defense turrets, a small shield, an energy turret, a scanner, and a medical bed. In the end, I still got only +2 rep.
Later, I ran a few experiments. To get more bonus than the minimum, I don’t have to unload all the resources from the cargo shuttle. The buildings didn’t influence the final result. Was that because I hadn’t built enough?
done my first stationbuild mission by accident (normal avoid them, becasue to time consuming and resources...) , was a mining station, i done all of the checklist and throw in a alcohol dispenser and 2 asteroid PDs on top, got the reward and a not so small bonus on top. still not sure if that elevated the extra resources i used to do so....
If memory serves me right it is based on how much of their resources you use. So if you don't use much of their resources you get a bigger reward as a bonus.

Does this still hold true?

I just finished a station building missing and got 3k credits and 7 rep, leaving all the extra blocks i didn't use on the station.

I loaded a save from before handing the station over, took all the unused blocks and got the same rewards?

Is it based on the amount of resources you release from the cargo container and not how much you use? Or is it a fixed reward?

Next time i build a station i will try only releasing what i need and see if i get better rep.

Have tried this out, did not used a single brick / anyhing from their cargo and still did not received anykind of bonus.

So I ended doing these missions so that I can actualy benefit from this. Designed the total minimalistic version that still allows them to survive, saving on resources and then transporting all tgeir resources to my ship. Station building mission became the the missions with Biggest / unmatchable rewards this way.

And if the faction iritates me above measure, I sabotage the base before passing it over, causing the crew to abandon it and dismantle it again cor extra resources.

Not gonna let the game abuse me 😎

The biggest reward is a new trade hub.
Whose production you get to control:)
I dunno I love the sabotage concept; I built you a gorgeous base out-of-pocket, and before I handed it over I vented the place to vacuum... good luck, chumps. don't worry, I'll be taking those blocks back. did your guys die? oh that is tragic... HEY TOM! TOM! FOUR MORE FOR THE COMPOSTER!

but the former sounds better, 10x8 base, everything touching everything else, while the surplus... hey where'd that stuff go? well it's worth more than your crap reward, so I kept it. enjoy your 'cozy' station.

Yeah, but that would mean something only if I was dependant on trade and if I ever planned to return. Rarely I go back, that is also why I dont take the stupid missions from militaty as they send you forward se several systems and for your reward they want you ro return almost back to the starting point... Omg, tell me about artificial prolongagion of game time... Nope, no returns. Just move forward, scavenge, sell/buy on the go and overload on pirates/slaves/fanatics... Missions are like the only ones forcing you to return, but for those I care on the start only, second sector is ussualy enough to already be self sufficient till end of the game.

Yeah, but having a base that basicly just cruds out techblocks so you dont have to?:D
And sells em cheap?:)
Or you dont have to worry about meat, as their surpluss is just too much?
You build up their base first thereafter start to do stuff around the system and if the cluster has another one then there too. Come back check how much crud they built, how much of the crud you salvaged they buy, and whamso:)
Selling them biomass en mass also is a good option to reduce your numbers when you do not want to build composterville:P
I know it inflates the game time slightly. But i tended to enjoy exploring all those side clusters that do not lead anywhere:)
Yes, the point of building indirect NPC resource facility is a valid point, but only if you plan on going forth and back etc. I ussualy just move forward and mine every single sector in every cluster untill eventualy I get bored and speedrun for the win, or simply turn the game off for some time. Too bad the game does not have real economics - just the clasic magic, or if there were real warfare or faction building or basicaly anything to pursue long time. You just fly our, collect, optimise. If at least the battles would be deadlier, but after all those nerfs its just about poking each other with a needle. Good game, but misses somekind of long term play goals.

Edit: the initial fight for survival is the best part.
