Hull stabilizer value

My ship size is currently 2046, so my hull stabilizers were producing 839 hull points.
I built more, and then the value went to 744 instead, but ship size didn't changed meanwhile.

Does it work differently than shields generators?
their value never changed as I got more...

Mass varied a bit, but it didnt affect the values for the shields. Hull value didnt changed after that neither (i my mass augmented like a thousand more..

Also the tooltip specifically talks about size (i assume its related to the number of tiles..)
