Space Haven

Space Haven

Apple Silicon native version
Hello.

Do you plan to release an AppleSilicon version very soon? Apple will soon be discontinuing support for Rosetta.

Thanks

+1 I'd love to know the answer to this as well
Space Haven is a Java based game that utilizes OpenGL3 for it's graphics. it's about as platform agnostic as can be. it most certainly does not need to run Intel x86 instruction translation for M RISC chips via Rosetta2. it can probably run just fine on your Samsung smartfridge touchscreen, though you'd probably want to rig up an input interface like BT keyboard and mouse on the kitchen counter.

this is not a thing you need to worry about, the required Java/OGL support are core components of your OS.
Désolé je n'ai pas compris le lien avec ma question. Si le jeu est vu comme une application Intel par MacOS, avec la fin du support Rosetta, le jeu risque de ne plus démarrer à l'avenir.

Sorry, I didn't understand the connection to my question. If macOS treats the game as an Intel application, it might stop launching in the future once Rosetta support ends.

You might not think it needs to run using Rosetta 2 but that doesn't negate the fact that it DOES use Rosetta 2, which is going away next year.

In which case it is actually or should be the OS's provider normally who needs to make sure that backward compatibility is not an issue.
But i know that Apple does not always care for it, as sometimes they like to fiddle around with stuff that can break things for the simplest reasons.
Which means a fix is usually easier.
That is a huge pro compared to MS. Who tend to break things via the most ridiculous and complex way imaginable:D

Btw, what DA means, that the game uses such low tech, that you could run it on your samsung smartfridge.:)
With a bit of tinkering most likely.
I can't imagine they'd make it run as an intel app, that's silly! maybe it's to get around some technical issue, like joypad support or something? I am not saying you're wrong, but if that's the case, there has to be a reason. cause that's - yeah, silly. the native OS handles this game marvelously.

what if you just open up a terminal and navigate to steamapps/common/SpaceHaven/ and manually fire off the game like: java -Xmx4G -jar spacehaven.jar

I assume it should run just fine... there's no reason it shouldn't.

I think that if he uses a 64-bit ARM JVM, there won't be any problem.

They'll just change the JVM eventually. If they change to arm at the moment, all the people playing on amd64 based macs will have their game broken. I have one right here, though I don't play games on mac anymore since apple's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over mac gamers multiple times in the last decade so I don't waste my time with it anymore. I just stream from my windows PC or bazzite/steamos once Microsoft annoys me enough with the latest AI nonsense they're forcing into Windows.

Eventually the dev can make an "old mac" branch and move the amd64 version there so they can update the main mac branch to be arm based, but there's no need whilst apple still supports both arm and amd64 platforms.
