t's a horde game with walking tanks against aliens.
If that premise doesn't drag you in don't bother.
You see genestealer tyranids, you kill genestealer tyranids, you move on.

You could enjoy the incredibly detailed sections of 40k imperial spaceships but you got nids to kill.
You could appreciate the somber tones of dark ambient music, the creaking space-hulk agonizing around you, but you hear steps and alien screams so you got nids to kill.

You play a walking tank with a fat gun in one hand, a melee weapon in the other , 3 gimmicks in the skill bar and lots of nids to kill. Unless you play an Assault Terminator or are a claw user, you forgo the gun for a fancy melee weapon, you still have lots of nids to kill.

As a walking tank you are slow but the tech-priests that made your armour remembered to include a second-gear (sprint), now go run over a mutant, you can kill small nids with your feet. Rotation speed isn't an issue unless you play with a controller, so you can kill nids all around you. You can't ? Get a mouse, and kill nids.
The game has locational damage, for example, a genestealer can break your legs. You can barely walk and this makes you angry, but worry not, the nids will come at you for killing. You can kill them with fist or gun as long as you still have an unbroken arm. What, you don't ? Just kill nids with your mind .

You kill nids in solo as a psychic walking tank that can wield pretty much every gun. Your two AI sidekicks aren't very bright but still do the job when you tell them to. The attack order key is underrated, keep a finger near it, it kills the nids, keep another near the heal request key, it keeps you alive, so you can kill more nids.

You kill nids in multiplayer as one of multiple class of walking tank each with some gimmicks, one of which happens to be a psychic walking tank that actually cannot wield that many guns anymore. Check what your gimmicks can do in the armoury, mind your team's positioning, go for the objectives and kill tyranids.
Playing online campaign or special mission runs (also available off-line) nets you renown currency which you can spend to apply bonuses over your guns, armor or abilities, or acquire cosmetics. So, go murder nids 20% more efficiently, or with a new paint-job and a bayonet, comes with free skulls pay renown for the skulls too.

Skulls turned free with the Skulls for the Skull Throne DLC, a wish granted at the price of downloading a free pack of content branded with an absolutely heretical name. Almost turned my review negative.

Something something dark visions something phantom menace something loot ancient artefacts, acquire more dakka, kill genestealers.
It's what you'd expect from a game about looting relics and killing genestealers in a space hulk.
You get in a space hulk full of treasures and genestealers; you get out in your spaceship full of treasures, and the space hulk is on plasma fire behind you. The nids are killed.

Regrettably, the game does not end the campaign with a score breakdown displaying very important information, like your personal genestealer kill count. But you know there's isn't a genestealer from that hulk left alive and that's what matters.

If you're not killing nids in that game, you're playing it wrong.
You want to dress up a spess mahrine in fancy terminator armour ? Buy some miniatures and paint them. You'll have a handsome nids killer to put on your desk.
You want a deep and thrilling plot set in the grim darkness of the far future ? Get one of the 40k book or play a 40k RPG there's a few around. With some luck there's some nids killing in it.

This is a genestealer genocide simulator that also happen to have more than decent graphics. The Emperor wants you to kill nids, the grand-master Belial wants you to kill the nids in that hulk, your mom wants you to kill that nid in her kitchen , and most importantly, YOU want to kill nids.
So you fist nids, you slash nids, you hammer nids, you bolt tyranids, you burn nids, you gaz nids, you plasma-blast nids, you electrify nids, you black-hole nids, you exterminatus nids.

Why aren't you killing nids already ?

I'm sorry but them mandem who claiming this ♥♥♥♥ is boring and stale and uninteresting got that turbo adhd zoomer brain going on ong. fun campaing, fun coop, fun searching for relics.
this game is just slow, you can't even properly run; truth is:
a studio makes an wh40k game where u can bunny hop and dash; piss-spacegliding on daemon filth gap-closing with your chainsword on their tight daemon arseholes, and society will complain: your spacemarine doesn't feel like an armored unit, "the adeptus astartes is too nimble, too quick, not great". BUT WHEN A STUDIO MAKES A GAME WHERE YOU PLAY AS AN ADEPTUS ASTARTES AND YOU WALK SLOW, TURN SLOW, SHOOT SLOW AND TANK ENOUGH DAMAGE YOU FEEL LIKE AN RAID BOSS, SOCIETY STILL CRITICIZES YOU "THE GAME IS STALE AND BORING" HAHAAHAHAAHAAHAAAHAHAAHAHAAAHAHAAHAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHASHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHUAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHNAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA

This is one bad ass game! 9/10 so far!
