Game is forcings 60Hz and disabling Gsync.....
So everything was running fine until today when I launched Sekiro. Now however, the game is not simply limiting itself to 60FPS but is actually changing my monitor's active refresh rate from 144Hz to 60Hz and automatically disabling Gsync.

WTF FromSoft?

Yeah, gotta limit all that fancy tech to play this game. I can relate though. There's a fix for 144hz here on the forum, but it requires you to run the game in windowed mode, and that disables hdr :( so sad.

Yup I just realized that if I switch to Windowed mode my refresh rate returns to 144Hz and Gsync is re-enabled.

Was there some kinda patch? This was NOT happening yesterday I'm 100% positive. I have Vsync forced off in the Nvidia Control Panel and noticed the INSANE amount of screen tearing literally 10 seconds after I launched the game today.

No, no patch since yesterday, so it was probably a bug related to your system :praisesun:

Same for me. I cant tell what actually made my refreshrate went down to 60hz. Enabled fast vsync and gsync makes it playable, but damn i hate it..

The game itself forces your monitor to 60Hz refresh rate - but only in FULLSCREEN mode.

If you run the game in WINDOWED mode your monitor will return to its default refresh rate. Too bad there's no borderless windowed mode............

Windowed mode will disable G-Sync, don't do that.

I can fix windowed mode to support G-Sync (enable flip model), but I can just as easily give the user a refresh rate option in fullscreen mode. Either way you're relying on additional software so you might as well just go with the fullscreen refresh rate override.

You have to download the unlimited fps patch...I play the game on my 3440x1440 fullscreen 100 fps

By any chance do you have a mod to unlock the frame rate for Dark Souls 3?

No, but I can fix aspect ratio problems in Dark Souls 3 :)

Thanks, is there any particular reason that DS3 frame rate can't be unlocked? At least for offline play?
Kaldaien Apr 3, 2019 @ 11:36pm
Largely because I do not care about framerate in games as long as they have functional framerate limiters. The only reason I even looked into unlocking the framerate in this game was because its framerate limiter was causing stuttering. Dark Souls 3 never had this problem.

Interesting, I just assumed it was tied to game physics because I've never been able to find a frame rate unlock. Are you aware of any mods that do unlock DS3's frame rate?

The game-physics in Sekrio ARE indeed tied to the framerate, but I've not encountered anything TOO ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up using the unlock patch.

Literally 95+% of the problems I've encountered have been in regards to the ragdoll death physics (ie mobs flying around in the area after they die)

To be fair, if you have a high-refresh-rate monitor the difference between 60 and 90 FPS is quite dramatic; and 90FPS is the sweet spot to my eyes.

I have a 144Hz Gsync display and I usually compromise on framerate vs. graphics and settle on roughly 90-100FPS. When I unlocked Sekiro to 90Hz my gameplay improved significantly.

No issue with g-sync here, the game's version is the same as well (1.02). Neither in fullscreen nor in windowed (with borderless via WBG).
