installing hak file
I was trying to get on the WOG server and said it's missing hak file. I found on on the WOG forum that I need the CEP 2.69 file. How do I install it on steam? It's so confusing.

If you right-click on Neverwinter nights in your library and go to properties and then workshop you can search the workshop for CEP and subscribe to CEP.

It will install the latest version of CEP 2 to your game. The latest version of CEP 2 also includes the 2.69 file you need.

Ok, I went to the library and subscribed. How will it install? It still won't load the mod, still saying it's missing a hak. I'm getting real frustrated.

1. Go to https://neverwintervault.org/sites/all/modules/pubdlcnt/pubdlcnt.php?fid=237161
2. Save the cep_2.69_full.7z file somewhere
3. Unpack the file
4. Move the content of the folder CEP_2.69_full to your ..\Documents\Neverwinter Nights folder (it should have matching "ambient", "hak", "modules" etc in it)
5. Done.

Please note - this is a direct answer to your question "how to install" it. To my knowledge NWN EE already comes with some CEP files by default (or it is appearing there when you play some curated modules that rely on it?) and I have no idea what will happen when you do this and if it will work.

Documents\Neverwinter Nights folder. I can't find that.

That's the folder which contains your saves subfolder - the name may be different if you're not on Windows or chose another path when you installed the game.

Here's a general guide to mod installation, which also contains a section "Steam Workshop Fix" in case your subscription still isn't working.

There are no CEP files in NWN EE itself.

Curated modules, and some PWs, use the nwsync method to download content, which can include CEP. However, this goes into the nwsync subfolder, which can only be accessed by other nwsync modules. So, no harm can be done by installing CEP 2 in the regular subfolders - modules that don't use nwsync (like WOG, presumably) will look for CEP 2 there.

If you don't know how to find it on Windows via its standard explorer, you can reach it as follows:

1. Press these two keys together: Windows + R
2. In the window that opens, type %homepath%\Documents and press "ok"
3. You will open the documents folder for your windows user. There you must have Neverwinter Nights folder which I was referring to

Don't have it, but when I click on the local Disk (C:), NeverwinterNights shows. So I click on that, the NWN folder shows and I click on that, then it shows, the fokders ambient, docs, ert, hak, modeules, premium, and tlk. So the cep file I downloaded, all the files has 2da files. Where would I put them?

You need to go to your C: drive and click on the user directory. From there click on your user name and you should find a documents directory click on that. In your documents directory you will find a folder called Neverwinter Nights. If that folder is missing there was an error during installation and you have to totally reinstall the game. If that directory is there click on it (Neverwinter Nights) and find the hak folder and click on that. Put your downloaded hak files into that folder.

Neverwinter Nights EE: version differs from the Diamond and earlier versions of NWN in that the user files are in a separate folder from the game folder. There are a lot of other differences as well, but for this discussion, I will just focus on the user folders.

@seekr34 See my response on the CEP 2 page.

If you have follow up questions, probably best to ask them in this thread, rather than duplicate them on the CEP 2 page, as I'm monitoring both.

Damn...the only folder I have in documents is Add-in Express. Man...and I started a game in NWNs, hate to start over again. sigh.... ok, thanks for the info

Proleric, yes, it's the enchanced version. When I got on steam, I went thru games and saw NWN enchanced, plus packages that came with it, so I clicked on it, paid for it and downloaded it. If I took the NWN fold and put it in the documents, would that help?

Do you have any saved games? If you do where are they located?

NWN is the only game I've played. Was on a couple of servers to see what's it like, but the NWN the only one I saved. I just click saved and when I go back on to play, I start when I left off.
