Playable Races?
Are the playable races just the base races (human, elf, dwarf, gnome, half-elf, etc) or are there some aside from that as well?

I appreciate the link - hopefully they do end up adding a few new races! I think that would be very neat, too many games just stick to the base selection. I'd definitely buy it if it set itself apart in that aspect! I know a lot of people don't like the more bestial races, or even non-traditional ones, but I think its something that could add quite a bit as well as work to set it apart. xD
Indeed. Drow, Tiefling, Aismar, Yuan-ti (and a few more I am forgetting) were all in NWN 2. Would be nice to see them in this game.

Please no Drow or else persistent worlds are full of good surface Drow.

Same as the normal game.

Understandable for most games - but NWN is made for custom content - it's at its very core with the toolset etc. Some of the best campaigns and DM-run games I have played have been created by the players. Skip the mods and you skip some of the best that NWN has to offer... well that and its multiplayer. :steamhappy: :d20:
I would be paying, I'm assuming full price for a game, in the hopes that at some point in the next three years a mod might get made that is updated regularly enough to be made fully playable. This isn't the sort of dealings I normally conduct.

Its less that I would skip the mods and more that I'm not buying a game solely for content that might be created later by a hypothetical modder that doesn't exist yet. I'm sure the two of you, developer included, understand.

No you would be paying full price for a game that is a remaster of an old game that has more mods for it than skyrim.

Feel free to inform me the probability of the exact content I want being made as a mod, and then give me a quote for how long you think it would take. That is how you will get your answer for why my arguement is valid and 'it has a lot of mods' is not a justification for paying what I assume is going to be over 50USD.

To be clear. You can already play a drow in the base game (as you can make custom races). However it will not have its race specific abilities or stats (somthing that you can freely change yourself in game using the dm tools.

The mod the developer linked fixes that issue by allowing you to load custom races into the game.

Even besides that there are already mods for the orginal NWN that can be ported that add subraces Such as the drow. You can rest assured that sub races will be some of the first mods made for this game as it gets closer to release. That being said, as always simply follow the game for now and check back on it later before you buy it.

I specifically asked if they were adding non-core races. Your gnolls, your ratfolk, your dragonkin/dragonborn, etc.

Were dragonborn a thing in 3E?

Anyway, I recall a number of players back in the day building themselves PCs using monster races, presumably through mods. I've seen gargoyles, trolls, beholders, and more.

I think they are called dragonkin in DnD.

I know a lot of servers do stuff anyways.. so if you're into MP they're likely have stuff like drow, goblins ect. (and drow is just a skin color change.. though no rp of it in the main game).

I do hope they do something official.. but it's okay if they don't.
