Question about Reprogram
I'm probably misunderstanding some fundamental element of the card's design, but can someone kindly explain, or point me in the direction of a resource that does so, why Reprogram's penalty takes affect immediately but it's str and dex buffs do not affect cards in hand until next turn. Thanks.

I don't use Reprogram much (just doesn't seem worth it for Defect), but I've never noticed that happen with it. The buffs apply on the same turn for me. I think.

Yeah, I agree about it not being worth it. It worked fine until A17, but now the All for One/Repro/zero build doesn't seem to scale fast enough.

Were you weak or frail at the time? Did lagavulin siphon you? Anything else you might've overlooked? There's no coded precedence for strength or dex gain with a delay besides demon form, so I find it unlikely that it's a bug caused by anything but a mod.

The only other thing I can think of, does strength gain/loss count as a status that artifact would play into? Same goes for focus loss and if the str/dex gain is tied to/requires the focus loss to go into effect?

Doubt. They didn't bother to code an exception like this for mutagens and flex either because it'd be unfun anti-synergy.

I do not recall having any debuffs at the time. It was very early in my run that I noticed it. About lvl 4 I believe, and I was not fighting the whisky monster. I have no mods installed. I will endeavor to link video if I notice the behavior again, which I should have done in the first place. :steamfacepalm:

All effects of Reprogram are immediate. Full stop. I do not know why any sort of "discussion" has stemmed around this trivially easy to observe point.

To further clarify, there is literally no effect in the entire game that would cause playing the card to not immediately increase your strength and dexterity (though the focus drop can be prevented), as shown by the buff/debuff icons under your character changing, and there is only one effect in the entire game that makes your current strength and dexterity not affect your cards immediately, which is the debuff from Panic Button (which causes the game to treat you as having negative infinity dexterity rather than actually preventing cards from blocking).

There is one effect (Weak) that can cause +1 strength to not change the damage a card deals, although there are no effects other than Nemesis' intangible that would cause +2 strength to not change a card's damage.
