You can use it early on without taking a massive hit to the face.
Now is much better for act 1 and slightly underwhelming for act 3 which for a starter deck is good, especially now you can get a bit more greedy with act 1 elite so you can snowball.
Aside don't understimate the card. Vigilance + Empty mind is basically a shrug it off, Vigilance+ + Empty mind is a shrug it off+. Vigilance + Emply mind+ is backflip+, Making comparison with other characters cards, vigilance is quite nice. Combine with any other exit stance card is equal or slightly better of other characters good cards with similar effects. Also having adaptation or mental fortress and it's already lot better. Lot of Watcher's cards are trash, but Vigilance clearly isn't.
Well, I think you can still beat act 3 boss without the stances but for what reason? Most of them are still good cards.
