Enjoy your pain in the ass fight :D.
I think the wither mass is fine but should have a prescribed order though.
I think a prescribed order would make this fight fair. I generally try not to savescum but this fight feels like such an RNG-fest that I savescum every time, sometimes multiple times per fight.
The fewer attacks you need to play throughout the fight, the better. If you scale your damage without hitting him (poison, Thousand Cuts, strength scaling, orbs, etc.) then you can focus on defending; alternately, if you can scale your block to generate 60+ block a turn trivially then you can just follow the rule in the first paragraph about not saving one attack.
I never found the Tentacle that big of a deal. Now if the game forces you into an elite fight with the giant stone head thing... that's why I would keep a smoke bomb
Usually repto is my main problem elite. Certain elites just step on some builds so you need to be careful.
