Question: Is "Hello World" ever useful?
@players who consistently win on no-ascension, or anyone really, since I kinda suck at the game and looking for somewhat "decent" thoughts.

Have you ever liked Hello World? and if you did pick it, why did you pick it? what's your thought process or reasoning?

shouldn't they nerf (or buff, IMO) the card to make it so that the common card that is being added gains exhaust and ethereal, or at least only exhaust, to prevent deck dilution?

I really just think that Hello World is a bad card since it creates a big deck. Additionally... common cards. Even when upgraded, it only gives us common-level cards. I would be slightly fine if they at least made it so that the newly added cards cost one less energy (discounted) for the rest of the combat.

But in the state the card is currently in, I never take it anymore, only ever did on the first two times I saw the card.

Any thoughts?

inb4 someone says "The deck dilution shouldn't be a problem ; you should finish the combat quick enough ; before it becomes a problem."

Well ye, average combat length is relatively low, so it's mostly about the upside of highrolling the good commons as a last ditch effort, like coolheaded and cold snap if you're super low on frost but can scale with orbs, charge battery and leap if you have a speed pot but not many decent cards to block with, hologram to return your genetic algorithm hopefully at the right time, etc.

It's not a situation I've ever found myself in, but I'm not too sad if I get it from creative ai, even though I reckon one of the reasons it exists is to make creative ai less consistent.

The other reason is obviously fun. Feels good when it generates stacc in a thicc decc.

So ye, sure you could buff it but it's like ultra whatever.

#Edit:
Forgot that it can also bail you out if life gave you lemons early in act 1. Generating snaps and ball lightning is actually good then, but again, tfw relying on highrolling cuz forced to.

I usually skip it. If it worked like Nilry's Codex where you are given an option to select a card from a pool of three, or opt out entirely, I'd go all for it. But the randomness combined with forced insertion into your deck? No thanks.

It`s a very situational card buts not as bad as it may seem.
On average it gives you defence (block/frost/weak) with some utility sprinkled (vulnerable/draw/energy/recursion)

I never take it.If i feel like my deck is really weak and needs random cards it means i either got super unlucky that run or made mistakes in my choices.

The only time i USE the card is when creative ai gives it to me. But ill only activate the next time it cycles through. I like making power heavy decks for the hyper lols, but when the powers run low after a few turns then ill pop that for some random fuel. I always pray i dont have to and ill just get more creative ais from said card. That isnt very reliable though. Just super fun when it happens.

I can't imagine myself ever deliberately adding this card to my deck. If it somehow sneaks in through a transformation or creative AI it's not very likely to get played unless energy is at a surplus OR i'm fighting slime, chosen or anything else that adds lots of daze, burn or slime to the deck. It's good for that sort of thing.

@Gentle Giant I haven't even ever considered it as a way to somewhat "counter" enemies that drop lots of status effects. Good thoughts.

Also, glad to see that most people think somewhat similarly about the card. I thought I was an odd one for not wanting to add Hello World to my deck

Might be useful against enemies that fill your deck with statuses/curses. At least Hello World will guarantee you a playable card each turn. Not sure if I'd take it just for that reason... but if I had Creative AI or a power pot give it to me against something like Sentries or the guy that Hexes you, I'd probably play it.

Yes it is not a good card. I would only take it early in act 1 if I don't have any good damage cards yet, because it's somewhat good against act 1 elites. Or if I got an energy relic from Neow, but I don't swap my relic on the Defect.
In my opinion it's the worst card in the game. The only times I can think it might be good if it gave you claws, however yes if you're running a claw deck you're not going to want it and other cards clogging you up. If it gives you 0 cost cards it would work with All For One but it's not a consistent synergy. Other than that, I would only play it if it gives you benefit from being a power. I don't really understand its place.

As for ways to make it useful, yes I would probably make the cards ethereal and/or guaranteed to exhaust after played. Or make the cards 0 cost or cost 1 less than they normally do. Still, it simply isn't consistent which makes it unreliable.

Hello World - - Since it causes deck dilution aka a big thicc deck, it synergises with "Stack" (Adds Block for each card in your discard pile) and "Aggregate" (Gain ENERGY for each 6 cards in your draw pile.

True. But it also bloats your deck with terrible, un-upgraded cards that will probably never contribute to your deck's focal strategy. I don't like leaving the game on auto-pilot unless it's something broken like Dead Branch + Corruption.

Very bad card to pick in all decks other than one which has lots of 0 cost cards (claw deck). It also works in dark decks, but is less useful. An all for one deck is definitely doable IMO. So:

Beam laser
claw
Go for the eyes
All for One
Boot sequence
Dual Cast
Zap
Scrape

Trouble with it is, is that in order for your orbs to be useful, you really dont need or want orb lightning or cool headed. As your main clearer should be a dark orb. And with it you will draw those cards occasionally. You can also synergise it with meteor shower. Unless a super early pick, i wouldnt take it though.

I really sat and tried to think of it for a second and I don't think I've ever deliberately put that card in my deck possibly ever.

Probably it is good with snecko eye. I used it when I got mummified hand, then it is basically free.
