I think Ironclad is the most straightforward.

Pretty much the order you unlock them in. Ironclad > Knifey > Robot.

Yea, ironclad is easiest. As his relic is very forgiving of inexperienced play. I think defect is slightly easier than silent, as his relic is much better (IMO) than the silents, which is basically a 1 trick wonder. He also has easier access to healing, whereas silent does not.

Ironclad is easiest to start and easiest to master. Silent is medium to start and hardest to master. Defect is hardest to start and medium to master.

this is because Defect brings in a whole new layer of gameplay mechanics but is pretty straight forward once you understant that part. Silent, however, still has very hard to pull off combos and cards that work together but aren't apparent. Stuff like Burst Nightmare on Caltrops/Footworks, then Backflip/Bullet time aren't the first thing you'd think of with Silent.

Defect > Ironclad > Silent.

Depends on your playstyle.

Personally, my highest winrate is with Silent, and lowest is with Ironclad. Ironclad gets a TON of HP from his starter, which allows him to take on more elites and get more relics, but his cards feel really clunky to me.

Silent, on the other hand, has tons of passive damage, in the form of poison and caltrops. This allows you to focus more heavily on defense, in which the silent has spectacular cards. Leg Sweep and Backflip are two of my favorite cards in the game.

Defect, I have the highest ascension level unlocked with, but it also requires you get the right cards for the deck you're trying to build. Four capacitors and no consume? Echo form and no energy sources? Book of stabbing with a deck that prefers protracted combat? You're gonna have a bad time.

There's some deck styles you can favor with high success rates at low difficulty too. If you get a discard silent or exhaust ironclad deck going, you'll feel unkillable, but at a20 we're like "what? archtypes? trying to do that is a mistake"

To beat the heart, I would say defect.

To beat the spire, I would say silent.

Definitely Ironclad.

ironclad is the easiest and most basic. defect is a bit more complex considering you have to work around the orbs but can still provide a lot of reward.

the silent is still an enigma to me.

Disagree. Ironclad is straightforward, but defect is so OP.

For me it's Defect -> Ironclad -> Silent

I had a successful run within 3 tries with Silient and Defect, but it took me around 40 to win with Ironclad.
