this is because Defect brings in a whole new layer of gameplay mechanics but is pretty straight forward once you understant that part. Silent, however, still has very hard to pull off combos and cards that work together but aren't apparent. Stuff like Burst Nightmare on Caltrops/Footworks, then Backflip/Bullet time aren't the first thing you'd think of with Silent.
Personally, my highest winrate is with Silent, and lowest is with Ironclad. Ironclad gets a TON of HP from his starter, which allows him to take on more elites and get more relics, but his cards feel really clunky to me.
Silent, on the other hand, has tons of passive damage, in the form of poison and caltrops. This allows you to focus more heavily on defense, in which the silent has spectacular cards. Leg Sweep and Backflip are two of my favorite cards in the game.
Defect, I have the highest ascension level unlocked with, but it also requires you get the right cards for the deck you're trying to build. Four capacitors and no consume? Echo form and no energy sources? Book of stabbing with a deck that prefers protracted combat? You're gonna have a bad time.
To beat the spire, I would say silent.
the silent is still an enigma to me.
Disagree. Ironclad is straightforward, but defect is so OP.
For me it's Defect -> Ironclad -> Silent
