To sell to the 2 people trying to game on Linux....makes a lot of business sense

I believe it's Unity-based, so a Linux(/Mac) build isn't outside the realms of plausibility. I imagine it depends on the developers' resources to provide support for such a release. It seems they're self-publishing, so they may not be in a position to. I guess hope that the game is wildly successful, at which point they may be in a stronger position to go that route.

I mean I mostly play on Linux and I'm able to play pretty much every game, either through native port or Proton, so yeah, gaming on Linux is a pretty feasible option nowadays.

And it makes a lot of sense for many developers, apparently.
They're only a small team (around 20 people iirc) so any port planning will have to wait until post release I'm sure.

It's not exactly a port if it's built in Unity. I'm sure there are more support considerations and platform specific tweaks that make it an option not taken lightly, but essentially you just build-for-Linux.

According to the faq:

Mac and Linux support?
We’ll be available on Windows at first but we really hope Mac and Linux later.

You fall into a common trap I see among Linux fans wanting games. Just because it's on Unity doesn't mean it's a couple clicks from being available on Linux.

Unity is usually HEAVILY reliant on middleware and often that middleware is designed for only one platform. This can result in large parts of the game needing to be recoded for other platforms.

There's also the simple issue that even on Unity you run into a lot of platform specific bugs and it's often better to iron out the biggest issues with only one version THEN port it over.

Well, saying "Unity is usually heavily reliant on middleware" isn't exactly true. Particular unity developers may be heavily reliant on middleware, but there's no reason Unity itself would demand it. It's impossible to say without dev comment how much or little they use.

I take your point though - there may be specific unknown barriers to making a quick Linux build.

I managed to get it working via proton. Just had to apply the media foundation workaround.

Played like 20 mins without issue, haven't encountered any issues other than not being able to tab out of fullscreen.

What's the media foundation workaround? I'm trying to find if the game runs well via Steamplay, but protondb has only 1 platinum submission out of 3 total submissions.

You can find the workaround here: https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install
