Should you use -NOTEXTURESTREAMING?

So, after much wrangling and frustration I have removed the steam launch option 'NOTEXTURESTREAMING' and it has improved my performance. I get much less stutter now.This used to make the stutter better! lol but now it is the opposite, at least for me.

I suggest to anyone who has this enabled and has stutter to try it.

I have a 1060 6GB gpu and 16GB ram.

Yes I use that still. I'm just wondering if this is a placebo! My game is certainly running better, not perfect, but much better.

-NOTEXTURESTREAMING caused stutters for me (when before I had none), seemingly because I didn't have enough RAM in my system to store everything totally in memory. I have 32GB.

-USEALLAVAILABLECORES is placebo according to the developers on the official discord[discord.gg].

Texture streaming is a reference to video ram not ram

Changing the setting via the Settings menu, setting it to Off only affects VRAM usage. But using the -NOTEXTURESTREAMING launch parameter will cause the game process to start using 20GB+ RAM. So far I haven’t met anyone with >32GB who has benefited from it.

Pretty much, yeah. Some people report that the game feels better but it’s due to another variable (different map, fewer players, different mode, etc) or its maybe just in their head.

Funnily enough, a couple of patches ago this launch parameter made the game smoother. After the latest patch I was stuttering constantly, so I removed this parameter and the game runs much better, not perfect, but much better.

same for me it's strange, I just did some testing and the stuttering when it's on is massive compared to how well it used to work, very strange.
