No there are no server "cheats" since this is made on Unreal Engine.
Last time I checked those are console commands.
Then go into a Local Game, and press that key. A little UI should pop up and let you give yourself different weapons, fly around, godmode, etc.
Of course this only works in Local Game, so it’s offline only.
So, just to confirm, there is no console to enter commands in since this isn’t running on source engine, right?
Does that mean there’s no way to bind a key that will let us suicide whenever it’s pressed?
Edit: to clarify: in insurgency you could open console and type “bind k kill” and whenever you’d press K, your character would die.
I really would like to be able to do that here as well - it would make the spawning in before the match starts more fun
UE4 does have a console that users can enter commands in, just like Source... so it’s there but currently disabled; which may just be due to this being in beta still.
I’m no programmer or game developer, but from some of the short reading I did about UE4... some developers add in their own “console” which allows players to run certain whitelisted commands. I’m assuming that “direct” console access works a little different in UE and might allow players to do some nefarious things should they have access to it.
Compared to everything else that is being worked on at this stage of development – with upgrading UE engine from 4.19 to 4.20, the “all hands on deck” effort for optimization, animation and character improvements, etc... console access is probably low on the priority list of things to work on for now. But I expect there will probably be one at launch.
But with all that said, keep in mind that I’m just a moderator so it’s not like I have insider info or anything. That’s just my observations on it from a player’s perspective who follows the game pretty closely.
