General Troubleshooting

If you're having issues with Two Point Hospital we are very sorry and would like to help you!

Here is some general troubleshooting advice - If you continue to have problems than please leave a comment below!

Minimum System Requirements

First thing to check is that your computer meets our minimum requirements - You can check this on our Steam store page here; https://store.steampowered.com/app/535930/Two_Point_Hospital/

Antivirus

Sometimes antivirus can interfere with the game, and stop it running or cause freezing and crashes during game play. Make sure that Two Point Hospital is excluded from checks (you can disable the antivirus as a quick check)

Graphics + Sound chipset/cards Drivers

Make sure that all of your drivers are up to date.

You may also need to download the "Nvideo Geforce Experience" Programme and download the newest Game-Ready-Drivers.

Windows/Mac Updates

It's good to check that you are all up to date with your OS!

Windows:
Check in your Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update
If you have Windows N than you will need to make sure that you have this installed; https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/result.aspx?q=media+feature+pack

Mac:
Apple Icon > Software update

Incompatibility

We have had reports of some users having a crash on boot, who were previously able to play. After investigating this has turned out to be an issue with an update of Citrix Workspace App combined with a windows update. The version of Citrix Workspace is 1809. We have reported this to Unity, but in the meantime a workaround is to uninstall 1809 and install the previous version (1808)

There is an incompatibility with ASUS Z370E motherboard's audio software Sonic Studio III, which has caused issues with launching. To solve the issue, uninstall Sonic Studio III.

Re-verifying game files

Sometimes Steam goes a bit wrong and fails to install or update the game correctly! We don't know why this happens, but do know that is causes launch issues and other bugs. You can check to this isn't an issue for you follow these steps;

1. Load Steam

2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.

3. Select the Local files tab and click the ‘VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES…’ button.

4. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.

5. Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.

6. We recommend verifying your cache twice to make sure all files are fully downloaded

Unable to save/load

If you have had a level fail to save or load we are very sorry! We are working very hard to find and fix all of these issues as soon as we can.

The first thing that you can do is check your back up saves, you can find them here;

Windows
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\LocalLow\Two Point Studios\Two Point Hospital\Cloud (You can find this folder by opening explorer, and typing in the address bar "%APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\Two Point Studios\Two Point Hospital")

Mac
/Users/[Username]/Library/Application Support/com.twopointstudios.twopointhospital/cloud

Linux
/home/[Username]/.config/unity3d/Two Point Studios/Two Point Hospital/cloud

Find the save slot that you were using. In this folder you should see lots of files. These are your career and level saves, and their backups.

Broken Level saves:

If you are unable to get in to a certain level than you will need to move the broken level save out of the folder. The save number will depend on the level that we were playing. You can either sort by date and time to find the correct one, or if you're still unsure than ask in the comments below. As an example, if you were last playing Flottering and now Flottering is unable to load you would move '903.csav' out of the folder, and rename '903.csav.2.bak' to '903.csav'. You can then try back up 3, 4 and 5 if you aren't having much luck!

Broken Career save:

If you are unable to get in to your career than move 'career.csav' out of the folder, and rename 'career.csav.2.bak' to 'career.csav'

Please do let us know if you have any trouble with saves or loads, and if the back ups don't work we may be able to resurrect your save, so post in comments below!

Hi!
Got a weird glitch in the game. One of my janitors is permanently stuck in the doorway of staff room (pictured below):

His icon is duplicated and I get messages that he can't get to the puddle of ectoplasm (also pictured) while the way is clear.

I CANNOT move him (!!) and I even resorted to firing him but it also brought no effects.

Please, help now I have a janitor who doesn't do anything, no-one can enter or leave the staff room because of him and he just lingers there!

After I unlock the bookcase using "k-cash", it doesn't stay unlocked but required me to unlock it again using k-cash. The only way around it is to 'copy' a room that already has one and then move it. Really annoying bug, please fix it. Also, why is the k-cash feature so dang stingy? You don't offer enough content to place to justify such a greedy system for placement.

I have problems starting the game. It crashes very often on the first loading screen or the one after the main menu. The screen gets black. Sometimes the game closes itself and sometimes it can only be closed with the taskmanager. When i get after the main menu it runs without any problems but the starting part is very annoying.

Just FYI, wanted to play againg after several months away, but now it will freeze the computer, then spin up the eGPU, then turn off the screens, causing me to have to force reset the computer.

Hi, so I played on my desktop at home and I am very far into my career. Now I am using my laptop to play the same account but it stuck in a previous level. When I open the map, it shows my flemington hospital still has 0 stars. But when I click into that hospital, all objectives were finished and I am unable to progress or move the map further to different area.

Hi , I just started to play this game for few weeks. And I found that the game didn't update my hospital to 3 stars after completed all quests...It still showing 1 star only. Any help can i get from you?

Yeah I have the same issue after updating and installing the latest DLC. Oddly enough my "hospital" itself is saved. So when you load one of the maps, all quests are done. The stars are just not showing up on the map

Sometimes, when a member of the surgical staff changes himself, he "glitch" (teleports out of the cabin) and remains frozen on the spot (it is impossible to "catch"). This causes a considerable delay in the queue of patients suffering. While waiting for the devs to resolve this particular case, I recommend that you close the surgery room, this delivers the staff member.

This is an issue that we are working on fixing at the moment. In most cases we can restore your career progress (not level progress) so if you would like us to do so, please email us at [e-mail] with a description of the progress you have lost (please use specific level names) and your Two Point Hospital folder (zipped) from your computer.

You can find that folder with the following file path:
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\LocalLow\Two Point Studios\
(type %APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\Two Point Studios\ in to file explorer)

The file will be large so if you use G-Mail please attach it using Google Drive. If not you can use WeTransfer

I recently updated the game and bought the DLCs, but the game frequently freezes and I can see that it consumes a lot of memory. I tried restarting the PC, turning down video quality but nothing helps :( Had no issues with the original game.

CPU Brand: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz

Hi i have that problem too... Game freeze but it continues to run in background. Only way to kill is the TaskManager... I looked at the logfile i think its a d3d11 Problem but don't know. And there are a lot of Translation errors for the German Language (Translation missing errors). Reinstalled OS Win10, Steam & the Game, all driver and the error comes a lot of time (before and after reinstalling everything). Please help me :/

And after a dozen of hours, the game yesterday, with nothing changed in my system, also started to freeze with sound in the background. It normally shows some stutters, blinks, and just freezes. The windows is running fine, the sound and game too.

Tried to rolled back amd drivers to no success.

On the log it shows some translations errors, but no d3d11 problem.

After months of not playing, I bought the DLCs and started over. Things were going great until I got to Flottering. I get a message saying I can upgrade the Drug Mixer. Only the upgrade button is faded out. I had 2 janitors who had the Mechanics skill, but it kept telling me I needed a janitor with the Mechanics skill.

I tried exiting out to the desktop and came back in but I still had the same problem. I tried restarting the level. Same problem persists.

Please help.

As you can see from the above screenshot, my janitor cannot put out the fire in the reception room AND I cannot put a fire extinguisher in the room. WOuld you please make a hotfix to allow for fire extinguisher placement in this room? I have tried everything and this is kinda ruining the game for me.
