ERROR: Graphic::Startup() FAILED. No Graphic Memory
Hello, I was playing until last night without problem, but now every time I try turn on the game, I get this error.

https://i.gyazo.com/4be6ba682a0ca7814bde5a088b15d59b.png

ERROR: Graphic::Startup() FAILED.
No Graphic Memory

No new drivers installed, no new nothing, no even rebooted PC (well, not yes trying fix it). Simply it stopped work.

Can't find any solution in google or this website.

So... this isn't good :(

Edit: I saw that the game "The Legend of Korra" have the same problem btw.

Are you using my mod, by any chance?

I know a way to reproduce this with invalid settings in FAR. I don't, however, know of any causes in the unmodified game.

BUT, because I can reproduce it through my own software, there's also a chance that other third-party software is doing something silly. You may want to close out everything that draws an overlay, captures video, etc.

If you're willing to install FAR (refer to the Steam group on my profile), I will look at your logs and see if I can find any causes. Please see the FAR thread there for details.

Hello Kaldaien, thanks for reply. Not using any mod already and no new program installed since more than 1 week.

I'll try FAR, or atleast i'll try.

Again, thanks for your time and effort.

I don't, however, know of any causes in the unmodified game.
It happens when anything related to DXGI and D3D11 initialization fails.

You could try to rename Graphic.ini in C:\Users\xxx\Documents\My Games\NieR_Automata (and possibly SystemData.dat, but I'm not entirely sure what it does/if it's even related).

Edit: Yeah, looks like it's not even trying to create a D3D device.

Renamed Graphic.ini and SystemData.dat, same issue.

However while SystemData.dat was created when I tryed to launch the game, Graphic.ini wasn't create.

The game may be trying to use your Intel GPU because, well, it's a JRPG and they don't know what they're doing :)

There's a feature in Special K to explicitly override the selected adapter.

Add the following under Render.DXGI

AdapterOverride=0

It's probably getting your integrated GPU when it tries to read VRAM info. I had a fix for this for Arkham Knight many years ago, but I've disabled it in the codebase and would need to re-enable it.

Ideally the developers would just add two variables to the code and get the game to run on the high-performance GPU always, but they're clueless :(

Thanks again Kaldaien. Can't understand why it is calling my "integrated GPU" when I don't have it (or atleast I guess I don't have, I haven't a laptop)

Well, it didn't work neither. Same problem. But I am not completly sure if I did it correctly:

I tryed add the AdapterOverride=0 just under [Render.DXGI] btw.

Your Intel CPU comes with an Intel HD Graphics 4600 as the iGPU, which your logs shows. That shouldn't be used normally unless you have a monitor that is actually connected to the display ports on your motherboard, but sometimes games can do weird stuff. You can uninstall if if you'd like.

Also, are you sure you've installed the right package of FAR[github.com]? That DXGI screenshot you posted doesn't include the game-specific settings that FAR ships with. An example in the screenshot is that the the fullscreen fix ("Scaling=Unspecified") wouldn't even be applied since you've got the default value ("DontCare").

Thanks Aemony.

I downloaded it from Kaldaiem group, in a pinned thread. Maybe the values are wrong because I never used the mod when game was working correctly, so because the game never start, values never updates and keep with it default values.

Anyway I downloaded it again and re-installed. Same issue.

Well, I was trying to fix some problems that I have with Sony Vega. Then I went to energy option and disabled ALL about shoutdown screen, hard disks and all options like that.

Funny enough I started Nier just to see if It had something to do and it worked. Why? I don't know. I don't even know if what I did had any effect at all, but well. Playing now.

SONY owns Denuvo, maybe it's a conflict of interests? (joking of course). But that theory makes about as much sense as anything else.

It's a bit maddening as we don't know what exactly causes that error prompt to occur. Even when Legend of the Korra was around it mostly seemed to be a temporary issue that solved itself :S

Which video card do you own? Do you have some Power Efficiency option enabled with the video card driver?

This is my PC:

Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3
Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0Ghz Box
Seagate Desktop 7200.14 2TB SATA3 64MB
Kingston HyperX Fury Red DDR3 1866MHz 16GB 2x8GB CL10
LG GH24NSD1 Grabadora DVD 24x Negra
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Nox Hummer 750W 80 Plus Bronze Modular
Samsung 850 Evo SSD Series 250GB SATA3
Sapphire R9 390 Tri-X Nitro OC 8GB GDDR5
Corsair Air Series AF120 120x120mm LED Azul 2 Unidades

I don't guess I have any power efficiency enable in my video card, don't even know how to do it I must admit ^^

Found a fix! This guide was to fix the same error for Legends of Korra but it works with Nier as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjMrkp4qPjU it's replacing a direct x .dll file in syswow64. after a restart I was able to open the game :)
