Skirmish Mode needs multiple difficulty levels.
I can beat it but it should have at least two levels of Ai skill.

Also, like in the game GO, you could have a mode where it rates your moves.

Great Game needs a wider audience.:steamhappy:

Hi valefor_sdad, thank you for your post. Great to read that you like our game. We agree that Powargrid needs a wider audience :).

Powargrid does have multiple difficulty levels in Skirmish. There is a slider in the skrimish menu that gives the AI more power plants to start with. Games become a lot more difficult then.

There is a second AI available, Daft Wullie, but that AI is actually less advanced than the regular skirmish AI. It's primary purpose is to serve as an example for people who want to write their own AI. If you'd like to play against it, you can go to settings --> add-ons and toggle "enable add-ons". You can then choose which AI to play against in skirmish (or you can have two AIs play against each other).

To be honest, I wouldn't know where to start if we were to rate moves in Powargrid. During development I got quite good at playing it, but determining how good a move is with any amount of certainty is beyond me :).

ah, I see. but actually, just giving the Ai more or less of an advantage at the beginning of a game is not quite the same thing as perhaps huminizing it by allowing it to make judgement errors.

As it stands, the Ai is moderately relentless in skirmish.

Thanks for your kind response.

We've thought about that (quite a bit!) but it's very difficulty to let the AI make "plausibly stupid" moves. It's easy to put in something like "half the time, forget to charge a tower that can hit a power plant" but that's too obvious. We're considering making the AI occasionally over- or underestimate its own or its opponent's power, potentially leaving a spot undefended, or failing to take advantage of an opening. That is an avenue we'd like to explore.

Hi,

In the absence of introducing Ai error, it becomes a game of an exact series of moves in which if I make even ONE mistake (the Ai will not) the game is lost....

That is not fun and will impede the financial success of your fine Game.

I am only trying to make your game more fun/successful in the hopes you will make new games in future, there are very few companies who seem to care about more than the first few sales.

As it stands the game REQUIRES me to be nearly perfect and hey I am playing this for FUN:steamhappy:

Thank you! As we developed the game, we were very worried the AI wouldn't be good enough to provide a challenge, so we did our best to make it as strong as we could! But we'll look into giving it a friendlier setting, too :) And don't worry, we have plans for plenty more games... just not a lot of time to work on them, unfortunately!

Your Ai comes across (to me at least) as the relentless terminator.

It doesn't feel remotely "human" (but instead the cold perfect process of a machine)...

This would be fine if I had "Godlike" skills, but I do make mistakes and once one is made the "Current" Ai punishes you with a loss.

I DO LOVE THE GAME!!!! and hope you are able to "Tweek it into a more fallable(sp)? state.

I have a (PC version of GO) on the first level, I Can win fairly easily, on the second (and I think it has 6 levels) it owns me in a soulcrushing way..(THAT is Poor Programming)....

I get Ai is hard, but what is truly hard is to make it seem "alive" and by alive..I mean not perfect.

I remain hopeful this wonderful game will continue to evolve and become a greater financial success.

Kind Regards and Seasons Greetings :steamhappy:

So true! @Fuddleclutch after the holidays, we should look into this :)

Valefor, really glad to hear you're enjoying your game. I'm betting that by the time we've made the AI "worse", you'll probably be kicking its ass on the current difficulty :)

Happy holidays!
