Completely confused by Coaxial weapon implementation
The Patch notes state Coaxial weapons are turrets which would normally use 5 or more slots, but using the dev console to spawn them in creative gives you nothing but .5 and size 1 turrets regardless of tech level or position to center on map.

Also, Im confused as to why coaxial weapons were given their own turret type? Why not just allow the act of fixing a weapon to a static Line of fire designate it as a Coax turret and leave it at that? Wouldn’t that have created way more versatility and a lot less modeling work?

The damage numbers I’m seeing also are not indicative of what I would expect considering they're supposed to deal x3 damage compared to non-static types of same variety. They look to be pretty much identical.

The whole "Coax Turrets are a predefined turret variant" kinda killed a lot of the anticipation I had for the idea of them, this feels pretty underwhelming in terms of freedom of choice.

Also a second question- Multiple slot turrets already gained a multiplier to damage and range as they got bigger, how does the Coax x3 Damage work with this feature?

ie: by the stated rules a typical 5 slot turret is dealing x5 dmg at 160% base range- Coax modifier multiply this by 3 or does it instead bring total base multiplier to x8?

1 Slot turret @ 100dmg/shot = 5 slot turret @ 500dmg/shot so... 5 Slot Coax @ 1500/shot, or @ 800/shot?

Ok, so , I killed the Final boss not in creative.
I have a Coxial rail gun - It does 25k damage per shot.
It this is by far miles stronger than anything ive Looted in the past from the same enemies.

It can hit for upwards of 300k damage.

Ive stuck the weapon on the nose of my ship , and built backwards so it looks like its got this big generator that powers it.
This makes the gun look massive when I could decide not to do any of that and just plonk it on the front without any cosmetics.

My ship went from about 30k omicron to 66k.

I dont build custom turrets - so those numbers might not seem huge from what I've heard.

What's the slot count on it? Perhaps the Dev console spawn feature is bugged or just not working correctly.

Stupidly, I'm in the habit of deleting all my prior saves when new Beta drops, so I didnt have an End-stage save to test the new drops with.

I think its either a 5 or 6 slot, I think its 5 :s
By comparison , I think my best railgun before it does maybe 7k damage (not in game to check) , and its a 3 slot I think , I have 4 slot railguns that have like,.. 2k damage per shot.
Ive never really looked into slot sizes and its effects.

Just an FYI If you build a turret base large enough to put multiple turrets on it, you can create a Coaxial weapon out of anything.

I put 4 custom missle launchers on one turret base (they are all 3 slot) and I was able to convert the turret base into a Coaxial weapon.

I'm assuming this is intentional, but its not made clear anywhere.

You can put multiple weapons on one turret base? Do they suddenly count as one weapon?

They end up with multiple turrets on the single base, so long as they all fit, but you can convert it to coaxial.

Although after messing around with it last night I can't tell if they are getting the damage bonus they are supposed to get. They can only fire in one direction though.

I will say when I tried it with 6 salvaging lasers they seemed to do less damage when I converted them to coaxial.

I'll continue to try finding a 5slot turret to properly test it, but I might have to cheat myself some Avoiron to get into the core faster.

Yeah the choice for how Coaxial were added still feels weird to me, it just seems like so much extra dev work and player run around than other options.

I mean, Instead of adding an entire new weapon sub type why not just find a turret, place it and have option/check box to Convert or Equip as coax and have it apply appropriate modifiers? Sounds a lot friendlier for everyone.

Im not a code wizard though, maybe something like that wasnt even an option. But as is its not a freeform as hoped for me, it feels really restrictive.
