Standard mining turrets refine on the fly and go directly to your inventory not the cargo bay.
The refined stuff you can sell at a resource depot. No need to make it appear in your cargo hold.
Check all the options in the menu if you're not familiar with where I'm talking about. Trade goods is not what you are looking for.
Selling refined resources is a good way to make money (resources are infinite and sectors respawn given time).
Super large plain asteroids are “Claimable Asteroids.” They sell for close to $80k to a faction you are in good relations with (or sell for little money but good reputation gains to a faction you have bad relations with).
There are pirate raids fairly often. All you need to do is get in a single hit for it to count and the faction will give you “reward” money and turret/upgrade for helping.
