If you order them to salvage with offensive and defensive turrets instead of with salvaging lasers then the turrets have a much longer range and the salvagers are less likely to get close enough to pick up any equipment items that drop. They seem to seek out the resources that are dropped during salvage but not the items, so if they make an item spawn by shooting a wreckage 4km away with a long range weapon they may never get close enough to pick it up.
just asking because im pretty sure in the older days of avorion you could order to loot.
then that is gone basically ?
If you are fighting a boss then presumably the loot is good enough that you'll want to loot it yourself to make sure you get all of it, otherwise its not that important and the random loot that you get from scavenger missions or that you buy at equipment docks will be adequate enough.
That is what I use any of my drones fighters for after a battle while ship is salvaging, I can send out drones to collect all the left over stuff, then dump what I do not want to keep. 1 squad will do. They don't even have to good for just pickup.
Do you need transporter blocks for that?
