Pilots & Fighters
...Apologies... More Questions...

Okay... so I'm using Fighters and Pilots now. Thus far I've been in several fights, and have lost a Total of 6 Pilots... but Zero Fighters. According to the In-Game Encyclopedia Pilots never actually leave the ship, but fly the Fighters Remotely... So, what's happening to my Pilots?!?

Advanced Thanx

that is very strange. you shouldn't be losing pilots unless your life support doesn't have enough power or you don't have enough crew space. Pilots do take up crew space, so when you just start using fighters you will often need to double or triple the size of your crew quarters to have enough room for them all.

I'll keep a closer eye... but I had enough pilots, then I needed more. But I didn't lose any Ships. But most of this I just kind of noticed after the fact. Now I'll be paying closer attention.

Thanx Mate.

oh. there's a chance that because you have a fighter blueprint set, you're MAKING more fighters and you only hired enough pilots for how many you had to start with.

Doh!!! ROFL!!! Okay... That One!!!

I'm Pretty sure I DO NOT Have a Fighter BluePrint... I've been 'Kind of'... looking at how that all Works, and I'm not getting much out of it... because I'm Pretty Sure I NEED a BluePrint.

However... Oh Yeah: That's Right I did Purchases a Single Salvaging Ship (On Sale) to ensure it worked (The R-Salvager Did Not (No Transport Block))... and then later the Adventure Gave me Several Mining Ships for Completing the Fighter Mission.

But with everyone happening... Learning to Use Fighters... Seeing what My New Ship Could Do... Fighting Ships that were a lot Tougher; I only notice This and That... Now and Then.

So Yeah... I'm pretty confident, that's what Happen. Uh...So Nevermind... We Got This One. ROLF!!!

Thanx Mate :D

(especially for mining or salvaging carriers) I just use the subsystem the AI monster drops - I think it's xsotan artifact #6. (AKA 'VI') But in the early and mid games I understand that slots are at a premium.

Yep, Xsotan artifact VI is the one that negates the need for pilots and provides 4 squadrons

I can't imagine how you lost the pilots though, unless a crew quarters was blown off the ship. Maybe that would do it?

I actually did get that... but I won't use it. Bloody AIs are taking jobs from Humans!!! I won't stand for it. Besides... I love having a Crew... No Way I'm Firing these Guys :).

Although it should be noted that it really shouldn't be used for combat fighters.
Fighters piloted by high level pilots have a much higher life expectancy since they can evade attacks. So if you use the AI subsystem with combat fighters, you will lose fighters a lot faster than if you used regular pilots.
