no ammo factories?

I can't find a single ammo factory in the entire galaxy I've explored so far, do ammo factories just not spawn naturally or do I just have really bad luck?

Make sure you are spelling the search correctly: if you are searching for "ammo factory" it will not show up. You have to spell out "ammunition factory". These should spawn relatively commonly, so if there have been none in several hundred sectors that might be a spawning bug with your seed.
Ammunition is also purchased by both Equipment Docks and Military Outposts.

If you just need those parts for building turrets, I'd just found your own factory and make them yourself.

I found a turret factory that sold the ammunition I needed, but there are still no ammunition factories in the galaxy that I have found yet.
