Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter (Disable to Fix horrible performance)
TLDR: Disable Virtual Network Adpater, such as for Hyper-V or VPN to fix horrible performance.

I've been experiencing horrible performance in Avorion, off and on for some time. Sometimes it was working fine, other times it was a stuttery lag fest of wow, why am I getting 15 frames per second.

Which leads me to how I figured out what's wrong. I play an older game called Dungeon Defenders and you can't host a game there without disabling the Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter.

I've been playing Avorion a ton lately (current save has 200+ hours) and experienced horrible performance. Yet, sometimes it was working, sometimes it wasn't. *Side Note* I hosted a game or two of Dungeon Defenders during this time. Since, I don't reboot my computer often, I didn't immediately find a correlation.

Today, I got fed up with the horrible experience and had some time to poke around. I went searching on the internet, found not much helpful, but did note someone who had bought the game, said a *redacted* copy worked fine and blamed Steam for the performance problems. I also finally got around to looking at logs for Avorion and noted it was throwing errors for my Local Host (127.0.0.1) connection. Which I found odd. I finally remembered that Dungeon Defenders has that stupid problem with my Virtual Network Adapter. (Which I've most recently used for testing some stuff for work on. I generally use it to host a Linux VM.)

After disabling the Virtual Network Adapter, Avorion returned to performing wonderfully. Where I was getting 15fps, I'm getting the correct 90 fps that I have it set at in AMD's Adrenalin software.

A little more information: I tried switching to beta and it didn't solve my problem. Some of my crashing problems may have been fixed by me changing my graphics settings, but not sure. I haven't done extensive testing since fixing the major framerate issues.
