Returning Player, Recommended Mods?
So I played Avorion a LONG time ago (several years) and stopped playing when i lost a save file do to a game crash. I decided to return and wanna get my mod list back in order because a lot of my mods are depreciated.

What are some of the "Must Have" mods nowadays? Some old posts on reddit said 4x turrets but all of the comments in those mods are reporting it breaking their game. I do enjoy having fleets of ships but if I remember correctly the fleet system back than really required you to babysit all of your ships, so mods to help with that would be nice as well.

Thanks in advance

2.0 will frustrate you if you played the game in detail a while ago, there are some mods out there that can get back some of the functionality that was in pre 2.0
Exactly what functionality you will miss and what will frustrate you varies, so I recommend starting off a "disposible" game to see and then go at it to change what you dislike the most.
For me, I play without the build knowledge for starters, and then some mods to change the orders, carriers / fighters and order chaining.

Suggestion: Try it without mods, first, and see what it feels like you're missing. The game changed quite a bit with 2.0, so if you haven't played since that update you might want to check out vanilla so you know what needs mods and what's already dealt with.

For example, map missions have replaced the "mine-refine-repeat" loop; some people feel that it's better, some... not so much.

Check it out for yourself and decide what you like/don't like about vanilla, then add mods to suit your taste.

I did initially find the Building Knowledge pretty annoying, although i feel it does prevent you from bum rushing to the later materials, which im entirely guilty of and makes the game a bit more linear, which i like. One thing i DONT like is the fact i cant ever find any DAMN TURRETS lol

Turret Factories. Go build what you're looking for. No, really. Type "turret" into the search box at the top-left of the map screen, and they're suddenly all over the place.

What frustrates me is trying to find specific subsystems in quantities high enough to research them into a usable tier.

Is that really all it takes? God i feel like an idiot

Well for turret factories you will have to run around and find the materials or send captains to scout for it.
But if you want to "Buy" base model turrets I use a mod that makes you pay for that with cash only, and modifications you have to hunt for parts.
But there are mods that increases the drop rate of stuff if you want more items, however expect more junk though, especially civillian turret systems :P
