do search and rescue missions ever...
end differently or is it always just a frozen crew?

Some variety with what the outcome will be would be nice.

So far we've got about half of what's on the development roadmap.

I found it an interesting read because that's where they say they introduced the cap on ship sizes in the early game (which I know is very unpopular) as an anti-griefing measure.

Kind of puts a different spin on it.

----------

The game is very moddable. Which is to say for a surprisingly large number of things if it exists in the game the modders can do it too.

It's a silly example, but you could (for instance) build The Warlock of Firetop Mountain into a dialog discussion with an NPC.

You could make a station which sells level 3 (tier 3?) captains.

You could (probably) invent a fourth tier of captain.

You could invent new perks.

You *might* be able to add or remove perks from captains

(I know you can force them down certain paths when they're generated, Im not so sure about after they're generated)

You can make the captain levels actually relevant for other things - e.g. maybe the number of extra unarmed sockets which scavenger/miner grant you could increase as they gain levels.

You can (I think) invent totally new kinds of map missions. I'm pretty sure the whole point of the Expedition mission isn't to actually do anything in and of itself (because the rewards are so bad), but rather to 'show off' the system to modders and to try to get their creative juices flowing.

-------

So I don't think there's any reason why you can't have a dialog with a stuck ship (much like the dialogs with other NPCs such as the adventurer) or have them give you a list of what they need (see also: bottan quest line) and hand those goods over to them (see also: bottan quest line) and receive a reward from them (see just about every quest line) in return.

The timing aspect of it could be tricky, but there are already (I think?) time-sensitive missions (e.g. the ones we all ignore about urgently needing X quantity of Y commodity)

You can add missions. I should know. I've made enough to make an entire expansion by myself :D

That looks quite impressive. Almost makes me want to buy the Black Market DLC just so I can do your Empress campaign :D
