Singleplayer alliance?
I'm wondering if starting my own alliance in singleplayer has any effect, e.g. will NPC ships join and behave independently (traders, loaders, corvettes and stuff)?
I found myself a nice cozy sector with some large asteroids, and I would like to set up a small base there with couple stations, mines, shipyard, etc.

I’ve been wondering about this, too. Following to see what people say.
I decided to look into it myself, turns out it really has no use in singleplayer. I find that kinda disappointing, would be cool if one could slowly build up their own empire. It also seems a bit useless even in multiplayer, there is literally a million sectors, and most servers top at 50 or so players, totally not enough for an alliance imho

I've actually found them useful for moving stuff between ships. Put it in the alliance group storage, and switch ships, then you have it.

I use my single player alliance to be the pirates. Because the diplomacy is different between your ships and alliance ships. Means you can raid a sector with your alliance ships, dump the booty to your players ships, and sell them right back to the same sector :p

One advantage may still be creation of more ships.
Alliance ships (in former versions) did not have Build Ship Establishment Cost at the same rate as the individual player.

The reason i mention this is the opportunity to have a series of ships in Equipment Stations that you have found.
Once i get rich enough, i begin to buy up all the Upgrades that i want .across 10 or more sectors.
Instead of flying around, i just hop from ship to ship to ship.

However, i need to retest this now that we have version 1.35
