Need help with Exodus mission procedure
So I found 2 beacons so far.
Y= -347
x= 35

I figured next one would be at 35:-347. But that coordinate is smack in the middle of a rift zone. All I can think to do now is search for hidden mass sectors in the 35 lat. I did find another one doing that, but it said x=35 again.... nothing new. Now I'm jumping around for hours not finding anything. Am I missing something? I don't know what the heck to do.

maybe its around it? that or its a 1x1 inside multiple rifts, I have something like that on my save, and the only way to get it would be with avorion jump drives

Hmmm. Don't you need to complete Exodus in order to get one of the artifacts, in order to get to avorion material in the first place? I don't know, I think I'm just not understanding the game mechanic. I read that the numbers are meaningless until you find beacons where one's X matches another one's Y. So I'm starting to think it's all just random where you find the beacons in hidden mass sectors. Please, somebody tell me if I'm missing something here. Thanks.

eXsodus beacons do randomly generate in hidden mass sectors, play the game long enough you might find two or more matching sets of coordinates, so if one match lands in a void, try the other. and another.
or...
in singleplayer, you can give yourself avorion, in multiplayer though, you can do a few things, hook up with someone who has found the exodus final sector, buy avorion, or find a gateway someone has already opened. My usual shtick is patrolling the barrier looking for open gateways[multiplayer] or rare chance fighting then salvaging ships that crossed over with some avorion in them.

Thanks for the feedback! I don't do multiplayer, but I appreciate the advice. Been playing this game for a few years on and off, but I've never come close to playing out the story. I really want to do that in this singleplayer playthrough.

Well, I spent the whole day jumping around. It is random. I finally found the matching #s. Little did I know that was just the first part. Now it's directing me to numerous locations, one after the other, and far apart. It's like never ending. Now I'm spending the whole night too jumping like a mad dog on this wild goose chase lol! Hyperspace cool down really drains your soul in this game. I think max for even the farthest reaching ships should be 60 seconds - and much less for shorter ranged ships.

I had progressed to the Xanion layer earlier, having a blast building up my ship so powerful that it 1 shot kills nearly all ships, even in that area. But now, to progress the story with Exodus, I've been pulled way back nearly to the farthest edge of the galaxy away from center. After I get the artifact, I'm dreading the insane jumping I'm gonna have to do to get back towards center.

As feedback to the devs,I gotta say, even as much as I love this game, this Exodus mission is pure BS! The devs unwittingly suck the fun out of this game in the way Exodus is currently implemented... a mind numbing time sink that's regrettably required if you want to progress to the core. I really hope they look at this and make it more streamlined in future updates.

You have to find beacons with the same #number
Then search those coordinates.

Got Exodus, the AI's, and Swok's artifacts so far. Woot! It's back towards Xanion layer now for the others... and back to fun. Well, Swoks and the AI were fun :) Had to look at a guide for Swoks, otherwise I'd never have found him where he lurks so far out from center. Still don't like the fact that you need a guide to follow the story. Hope they flesh out that part of the game sooner or later.

Lesson learned: Subsequent playthroughs I'll have a ~25 reach hyper drive before I ever do Exodus again.

Exodus ends somwhere on the outer rim of the galaxy further than +- x/y 200, 200 in my experience

You should do the Botton mission... it gives you an artifact that takes your hyperspace cool down -90%. That’s actually the first mission I do usually. You find it by doing the smuggling mission from the bottom smugglers in hideout sectors.

For a player that's trying to avoid negative rep hits on friendly factions, it's hard to justify accepting shady missions from smugglers. And yet - a fantastic item is hidden behind the mission, that apparently if you don't know about you'd never get?

That's why I posted on the issue of "Stumbling around in the dark" in another topic. As someone who doesn't read every article on every Wiki/Forum to know what to do and when to do it, it seems like the average gamer is being punished for just "playing the game".

Case in point: in 2 games totaling ~130 hours, I've seen two or three beacons in different sectors. I never knew what to do with them, and they never prompted me to seek out more or do another activity. So I just marked them in sector notes, and moved on... forgetting about them entirely.

I'm going to assume that due to the game's unfinished status, it's a mandatory requirement to read spoilers on where to go and what to do to advance in the game properly. Unless someone can point out otherwise. It's disappointing, but if that's the way it is, then so be it.

Totally agree. That's what I mean when I give feedback hoping devs flesh out the story missions part of the game. The sandbox part of the game is truly fantastic. Fixing this story part of the game will be the icing on the cake.

They're adding a lot of new stuff that's awesome - foundation mechanics stuff. And I guess that groundwork needs to be layed down before they move on to the finer polish. So I'm in no way calling for them to hurry. I just hope they don't ignore the need to flesh out the story missions to make it all more understandable to the player IN-GAME.

Indeed! I'm doing Bolton mission now. In fact, all I need is 1 Neutron Accelerator... got everything else. Good times!

Yes. It actually all makes sense once you get to the end and read through the comms. I really liked that at least it made sense finding myself so far out.

Perhaps, after finding the matching #s, instead of being led beacon after beacon to the edge of the map, they should reduce to only 1 or 2 beacons, which then lead to a wormhole to take you to the end. That would be a good balance I think.

68plex - I found something nice to do with Exodus mission. Get a second ship. Outfit it with somewhat decent jumpdrive capabilities. Queue jumps towards next exodus beacon. When it gets there, you can Change Sector, read the beacon, Change sector again, and queue another list of jumps towards beacon. In meantime, you are free to annihilate all them pirates or factions you want.
Also this trick is usefull to scout the energy signals, but, your main craft has to have quite insane amounts of radar reach to do it.

Hey, that's a really smart way to go about it. New players unfamiliar with Exodus would never realize how beneficial this would be. Your idea here may save a lot of noobs stumbling across this thread from the tedium I faced doing the mission. This is a great idea for someone who has experienced Exodus already and knows what to expect. So I'll probably use your idea on subsequent play-throughs.

That said, it should be noted that the Bolton mission is VERY powerful. Jumping is no longer an issue after you complete it. So there's also the option of just doing that before ever proceeding with Exodus.

Still a great idea though, Jaronidas, and definitely a good option to choose for someone at an early stage who may have difficulty procuring the items for Bolton mission.
