eXsodus beacons do randomly generate in hidden mass sectors, play the game long enough you might find two or more matching sets of coordinates, so if one match lands in a void, try the other. and another.
or...
in singleplayer, you can give yourself avorion, in multiplayer though, you can do a few things, hook up with someone who has found the exodus final sector, buy avorion, or find a gateway someone has already opened. My usual shtick is patrolling the barrier looking for open gateways[multiplayer] or rare chance fighting then salvaging ships that crossed over with some avorion in them.
Well, I spent the whole day jumping around. It is random. I finally found the matching #s. Little did I know that was just the first part. Now it's directing me to numerous locations, one after the other, and far apart. It's like never ending. Now I'm spending the whole night too jumping like a mad dog on this wild goose chase lol! Hyperspace cool down really drains your soul in this game. I think max for even the farthest reaching ships should be 60 seconds - and much less for shorter ranged ships.
I had progressed to the Xanion layer earlier, having a blast building up my ship so powerful that it 1 shot kills nearly all ships, even in that area. But now, to progress the story with Exodus, I've been pulled way back nearly to the farthest edge of the galaxy away from center. After I get the artifact, I'm dreading the insane jumping I'm gonna have to do to get back towards center.
As feedback to the devs,I gotta say, even as much as I love this game, this Exodus mission is pure BS! The devs unwittingly suck the fun out of this game in the way Exodus is currently implemented... a mind numbing time sink that's regrettably required if you want to progress to the core. I really hope they look at this and make it more streamlined in future updates.
Then search those coordinates.
Lesson learned: Subsequent playthroughs I'll have a ~25 reach hyper drive before I ever do Exodus again.
That's why I posted on the issue of "Stumbling around in the dark" in another topic. As someone who doesn't read every article on every Wiki/Forum to know what to do and when to do it, it seems like the average gamer is being punished for just "playing the game".
Case in point: in 2 games totaling ~130 hours, I've seen two or three beacons in different sectors. I never knew what to do with them, and they never prompted me to seek out more or do another activity. So I just marked them in sector notes, and moved on... forgetting about them entirely.
I'm going to assume that due to the game's unfinished status, it's a mandatory requirement to read spoilers on where to go and what to do to advance in the game properly. Unless someone can point out otherwise. It's disappointing, but if that's the way it is, then so be it.
They're adding a lot of new stuff that's awesome - foundation mechanics stuff. And I guess that groundwork needs to be layed down before they move on to the finer polish. So I'm in no way calling for them to hurry. I just hope they don't ignore the need to flesh out the story missions to make it all more understandable to the player IN-GAME.
Perhaps, after finding the matching #s, instead of being led beacon after beacon to the edge of the map, they should reduce to only 1 or 2 beacons, which then lead to a wormhole to take you to the end. That would be a good balance I think.
Also this trick is usefull to scout the energy signals, but, your main craft has to have quite insane amounts of radar reach to do it.
That said, it should be noted that the Bolton mission is VERY powerful. Jumping is no longer an issue after you complete it. So there's also the option of just doing that before ever proceeding with Exodus.
Still a great idea though, Jaronidas, and definitely a good option to choose for someone at an early stage who may have difficulty procuring the items for Bolton mission.
