how do you find valuable objects?

Very new, obviously. Wish there were better beginner guidance in this game. It says there is a valuable object detected. How do you find It?

You uhh... look for it. If you can get a better object detector it'll highlight as you get closer and the best ones will highlight them throughout the sector.

Thank you for the detailed answer!! I found a claimable asteroid after combing through a few fields. It really helps knowing what you are looking for!

As far as the white box and arrow, it only points to the thing that I have selected. So if I keep hitting tab, my select window at the lower right cycles through all of the asteroids in the sector, as well as the other ships and stations. Can the valuable object be found that way, or do you need to get close to it to select it?

F9 is ur friend if u don't have a good object detector for claiming roids

F9 is not set in my default keybindungs ... what should that do?
