According to the game you can clear out a pirate sector and get knowledge of it as a loot drop or you can get it from shipyards at mostly titanium region.
Without titanium I certainly won't be taking on pirates (insane difficulty) so I've been trying to get it a shipyard, but I haven't seen it so far. I've gone in pretty deep into titanium area I feel. Worried my weak ship will attract persecutors if I push much further.
Which difficulty was that on and was it the mail entitled "Titanium!"?
On insane difficulty all that mining titanium got me was the encyclopedia entry for it and that "Titanium!" mail that informed me about being able to get the knowledge from pirates or shipyards. No item included in my message.
I had to go way deeper into the titanium area than I expected, but I finally found a shipyard that has it. It literally is an additional menu option called "Building Knowledge" that sell the "Building Knowledge - Titanium" item for 250,000 credits.
Honestly, this is too much. Grinding in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ iron ship to get 250k. ♥♥♥♥ that. I really don't like this new system. It sounds too annoying. Too much of an unnecessary time sink.
Thank you for saying that. Good to know you can keep playing with classic progression.
just yesterday i got ambushed while looking up mass signatures on the map, my ship was fully upgraded to titanium at the time and on normal difficulty and i got hit on by two separate pirate fleets, they did manage to eat into half my ships health before i destroyed them in my one ship, i even took down a pirate king in a ship 3-4 the size of my with stronger materials as well, a lot of loot dropped from that ship.
I just started the process of upgrading beyond titanium, at least as much as i can and increasing the strength and mass of the ship so it can withstand what the more inner sectors can offer. Finding the upgrade to tier 3 was tricky despite the options available. i chose to buy it from a shipyard at 750k credits instead. In a way i can understand how those users 3 years ago had so much trouble.
