Most Profitable Business?
What do you think is the best way to make money? I am in a competition with a friend to see who can make the most by 2021 and I am wondering what you all think is the best course.

water sources

Yeah, oddly enough I set up a water collector thinking it might be a decent income because of the demand in the area being max, but I didn’t expect it to be so consistent. I think it’s close to 400-500 credits per second almost. I have one set of 12 cargo fighters selling constantly and occasionally cargo ships but a large bulk amount. It’s costly to set up but after a reasonable amount of time it adds up and requires no management.

How do you know where is a good place and where to sell?

A high tier trading system will tell you the demand for goods in a sector. Use that to see what stations want and if it’s a station that simply produces those goods without input like the water collector does, you’ll make great profits without having to do anything.

When done right, R-Mining can bring in over 100,000,000 credits an hour.

What are some tips to do it correctly?

You want to eventually make carriers for mining, with LOADS of cargo space, then you need a good R-mining turret, and you turn it into a fighter, you then mass produce these fighters using assemblies, and put them on all your mining carriers, make sure those carriers have mining systems, and your ready to go ;D

Scout out some good mining systems, and have your carriers go in loops, jump, mine, jump, mine etc, make sure they drop by a refinery and refine somewhere in the loop, and your good to go :D

They will bring on a lot of ore (which you need for building ships obviously) but by the time you reach avorion, you no longer need iron, titanium, or naonite, so all that can be sold for cash, no downside ;D make sure you save a little bit of xanion so you can make teleporters and cloning pods (if you want something light, but in reality, you can make those out of avorion, too if you just want the hit points)

But most of your xanion is now cash ;D

Then sell off excess trinium, ogonite, and avorion when you need credits not ores :)

However, once you set this up, fast easy money with no micromanagement comes in with mines and factories, but it takes millions to set up, so save this for later in the game :)

There are a lot of guides people written here on Steam and a ton of threads about it in these forums. It can be hard sometimes to distinguish a well stated opinion from an unembellished fact so my advice is try a bit of everything and keep what works best for you.

Some unembellished facts that I stand by no matter what: You want BIG loops with about 20 sectors and each sector should have at least 1000 asteroids according to the Galaxy map. You want one ship per loop. You want BIG cargo holds of at least 25K storage capacity (That is enough to clear most sectors in one pass but not two sectors). You want to found your own Resource Depot and only sell your ore to it. A group of small ships working together will always leave a lot ore behind because it didn't fit in their cargo holds after it was mined.

My opinions: Don't worry too much about R-Mining fighters if you don't want to use them. You can mine ore a lot faster with a carrier, but then again you can always make more ships to compensate. Always put at least one Armed turret on your ships so they have a better chance at surviving if you are in sector with them. Only mine Yellow Blips Sectors you have scouted so you don't have a reason to go where your ships are mining.
